The Broncos are holding training camp at their facility (Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Centre) for the seventh year in a row—Rookies and quarterbacks reported on July 27 and veterans reported on July 30.

Denver will open its preseason on the road for the 12th consecutive year, extending its club record, and has played 17 of its last 19 preseason openers away from home since 1990.

The Broncos are 24-25 all-time in preseason openers and own a 12-2 record in their last 14 openers... The 49ers are the Broncos’ most common preseason opponent (32 meetings) with Denver posting an 18-14 record in those games (8-7 on the road)—The two clubs last met in the preseason in the 2007 opener (17-13 Broncos win).

Denver has posted at least a .500 record in the preseason in 13 of the last 14 seasons and is 11-5 (.688) in the preseason since 2005 (2-2 last two years).

The Middlebrooks-Engleberger subplot adds a lot of oomph to this rivalry for me, personally.

I hate preseason but the 1st (and 3rd) games are always must see TV.

Still amazes me how 49ers fans put up with that sorry excuse for a stadium, looks like a cold war relic from Romania, really should consider going the way of the Giants...

Maybe they like having tickets blue collar fans can afford and keeping the fan base intact instead of handing it over to corporate types instead.

That's a little black and white. Don't get me wrong though I don't agree with unfair pricing strategies either. If anything it has to do with what the fans call 'home', as a sports fan what I value most about going to a game is the experience. 49er fans I call friends have complained for years about the state of that stadium, its terrible vantage points, how quick noise dissipates, and the distance the stands are from the field...this goes double for the 'blue collar' demographic. Wasn't my intention to reference the proletariat.

I hope we get to see a healthy dose of Knowshon or Peyton Hillis. Not interested in any of the other backs that we have. I'll also be looking for McKinley and the entire defense

It is black and white, but consider this; can we name a single one of these teams that didn't price a lot of their fans out of the game once they got their new digs? The Cowboy fans have discovered this now. Tickets skyrocketed...in fact it costs a bunch of money just for the so called "seat license", the right to be on the list.

If we could go back to Mile High with it's homefield advantage, it's noise and the old fan base...wouldn't you?

No, you're absolutely right, the advent does present higher ticket prices...for a spell. But it's the only way to usher in a new era as well as have a decent stadium to watch the ball game in. Though with many soccer teams in Europe part of the team's governance is to have a sliding scale pricing system that allows ALL to enjoy the experience. American sporting events as a whole are priced out of their main fanbase. Though again with regards to Candlestick its more a matter of design over function.

If Mile High was back with its rackety bleachers and faded seats, you bet.

Safety Brian Dawkins (hand) and wide receiver Brandon Marshall (hip) will not play tonight. . . . Running back LaMont Jordan, who missed practice time this week with an unspecified leg injury, is not expected to play much, if at all. . . . Running back Marcus Thomas, signed shortly before Wednesday's practice, is expected to get some carries. . . . McDaniels said he would not use a blanket policy toward playing time in the preseason — in which the starters would get a certain number of series or plays before leaving — but that he would play individual players more or less depending on what he believed they needed. "We have a lot of young guys who need to be out there," he said.

Every time..we play SF ..something bad happens to either SF or DEN players.

I hope this time..nothing bad happens and we show some improvement in all the phases.

Clearly you've never been to Candlestick. Not a blue collar fan in the joint.
