Default crabtree threatening to sit out 2009 season, reenter 2010 draft

what a ****ing retard. how ridiculous do these players get?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...e-enter-draft/

he will fall to the third or fourth round if he reenters the draft next year, wonder if he realizes that. if i was the 49ers, id tell him to go right ahead.

Honestly, I want him to do that. He is not going to be the first WR taken in the 2010 draft, could end up number 3 again and with a history of being a distraction he is not going to be a popular choice. This could cost him a LOT of money.

Mike Williams sat out a year. What round did he get picked in?

Trade the guy's rights to Oakland and rape the Raiders of everything they've got. Al will be smiling the whole time.

Mike Williams sat out a year because he and his lawyers thought they could circumvent the NFL eligibilty rules. NFL's rules were upheld and since he had hired an agent, he could not be reinstated by NCAA.

...and Crabtree is an ass clown!

mike williams didnt already get drafted, to only decide he wasnt gonna get payed enough money and would re-enter the next year. he wasnt coming off ankle surgery and has yet to run the 40, if only to prove that he can.

I think teams have learned their lesson from Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams, if a player has been out of football for a year, don't pick him on day 1.

it's like Bo Jackson. he was the number 1 overall pick by the Bucs, but they tried to force him to quit baseball, he played baseball and didn't sign with them and the next year was drafted by the Raiders in the 7th round.

it isn't the same situation with the player being a punk like Crabtree, but a number 1 overall pick fell 7 rounds by re-entering the draft.

I want to say I wish the Raiders drafted him and had to deal with this, but watching them deal with DHB's terribility is going to be pretty fun too.

Mike Williams only declared for the draft after Maurice Clarett had won his court case and the NFL said they'd abide by the initial ruling. He wasn't trying to circumvent anything.

He got picked in the 1st by the LIONS, then proceeded to bust out of the league. Even without the extra baggage Crabtree is bringing, I would think teams learned from the lions mistake.

If they still had Millen at GM, the lions might pick him in the first next year.

Because teams didnt assume he would play football.

Feel bad for the 9ers but that's life in the NFL. If I were their front office, I say "see ya later."

BTW, considering he was drafted with an injury and no 40 time on the books, youd think he'd feel lucky to be drafted so high and not want to risk sliding next year.

I firmly believe in the players who don't yet have contracts to hold out if they so choose. They have not signed anything yet and IMO this is the right time to go for best deal you can get. Not 2 yrs from now with 3 yrs left on contract etc etc.

Moreno is smart to wait and see what happens in front of his spot. He won't have another chance at a new deal for what 5 yrs, 4 yrs? Hell Rbs don't often last that long.

I will only care if he doesn't run hard once paid, or then hold out for more money before contract up.

If I was his brother, dad, agent, etc I would say wait and get as much as you possibly can.

Exactly. When factor in that most players careers are less then 4 years, you need to maximum your earning potential.

I really think this could work out well for him.

If I was a college player looking for an agent, I would find out who Crabtree's agent was, and immediately draw a line through him with a black magic marker - one of those big ones that get you stoned every time you use them, and draw lines about an inch wide.

Wonder if the raiders had a strategy when they, by reports, vastly overpaid for their 1st round receiver? It is likely hurting the Crabtree signing which in turn is hurting many other signings.
