Some good old fashioned rookie hazing - The Orange Mane

The Broncos rookies got down and dirty at the start of Wednesday’s afternoon practice. Literally.

First, the grounds crew soaked the ground behind one end zone until it turned into a marshy mess. Right after stretching, Josh McDaniels called the entire team to that end of the practice field and instructed the rookies to line up at the end of what was basically a long, muddy Slip ‘N Slide. A coach would toss a ball into the mud and the rookie would run and slide and recover the ball along the way. Meanwhile, long snapper Lonie Paxton sprayed each rookie with a hose while other players tossed buckets of water on them. Good times all around.

Even a first-time NFL coach took a turn — Ben McDaniels, the offensive assistant who also happens to be Josh’s younger brother. Too bad Josh, himself a rookie head coach, didn’t take a dive.

it was AWESOME!

They were throwing 5 gallon buckets of water at the rooks RIGHT when they dove for the ball too, so it was pretty funny stuff.

Everybody was laughin havin a good ol time

It sure sounds like Ben McDaniels was hired to just be a gopher\personal assistent.

But it wasn’t just the players who had to go after the ball, offensive assistant Ben McDaniels and defensive assistant Jay Rodgers also took their turns.

“That was definitely an eye opener,” Tom Brandstater said of seeing the coaches take part in the drill. “I wasn’t expecting that. I turn around and see Coach flying through the air. We had two young coaches doing that and it was cool to see them doing the same thing with us. It’s Ben’s first year at this level, too, so it was good to see him do that.”

Because, sadly, he is starving for attention and needs the internet to fill the empty hole in his life.

Funny thing is TJ wonders why the Broncos organization is pissed off at this place... not that hard to figure out TJ.
