Slowest DL off the snap almost every time. He did make the plays a lot of the time and was shedding a pretty good OT (Merideth right?) in doing so.

I definitely think he's going to be a better run defender than a pass-rusher, although he may actually be better-suited to rushing the passer from the OLB position than he is from the DE position, which is good news.

he does seem to hold his blocks and get off his blocks better than rushing the passer, let's leave rushing the passer to elvis and hopefully Moss and maybe a good blitz package.

don't get too excited over these hilights...a few of these plays he was going against Wesley Saunders a TE who struggles in blocking. He did beat J. King the LT a few times, who has a future in the nfl though.

He disrupts plays though... that's a big deal.

You're right mock, we should have picked a DT, that would be projected to the beginning of the 3rd round in a year with a good DT class, in the middle of the first round. Great plan for going BPA. I mean it's not like the pats might have reached to picked him to try and provide insurance for next year when Wilfork leaves.

Not only did he get 4 second rounders, but picked up a couple more.

Or something like that. He played the draft like a fiddle.

By trading Cassell and trading down.

NOT by trading his franchise QB.

Well, Brady makes twice what Cutler does.

But that's OUR problem, NOT THE bEARS.

NO BETTER REASON TO TRADE OUR HIGH CHOICE IN '10 THEN RIGHT MORON.

We had 2 3rd's.

We traded our '10 first.

Watch the vid carefully and you will see that Ayers is LOOKING at what the offense is doing when the ball snaps and then adjusting to the play.

I'd say his ability to read in react is great.

But other idgits like mock don't understand football and have probably never played one down of football in their lives, especially on the defensive line.

Ayers shows good leverage at the point of attack, hopefully the apparent "slowness" was part of his assignment that game to hold the LOS and funnel the play inside.

That being said, I personally expect Reid to win the SOLB job for the season opener. Reid is strong as hell, a good tackler, and is more experienced at game speed in the NFL.

Reid will start, Ayers will back up and come along as the season progresses.
