Default OT - unknown species (evil looking fella)

Watching some History channel and they had this weird looking creature that some dude captured (I believe it was in Mexico) in a trap. You can see in the pics it's stuck in a trap. It died before any experts could look at it but they did apparently take samples from the dead remains for DNA testing and found that it indeed was real and not fake and the DNA testing showed that it did not match any known species to man. They at first thought it was a small primate that somebody removed the skin from but after further testing, it did have skin and how you see it in the pictures is just how it was. Comparing it to small monkeys, they said that it more closely resembles a human then a monkey. The feet are too small to be primate and after closely examining the spine, they believe it could walk upright. And how about those eyes man. Are those funky or what? That thing looks evil. And they think it was a baby, so they apparently get bigger. I'm not sure how this small creature got into the Monsterquest episode about flying humaniods, but imagine that thing about the size of a dog, pretty freaky. Too bad they didn't have much on it. I sure would like to find out more about this creature.

Definitely a creepy looking thing...

EDIT: By the way I did a little digging on this and the results from the DNA test seem suspect to me. From what other people are reporting from the show they did not recover any DNA from the creature. That leads me to believe that this specimen wasn't preserved well enough.

Whatever it is, that thing would not be heavy enough to trip that leghold trap. No way. If it did, the trap would have crushed the skinny little arm right off of it's body.

BS.

That's interesting. I watched the show and they cut the tip of the tail off and tested for DNA and found that it was a real species but the DNA did not match anything known to man. Try digging harder to see what you can find.

As for the trap, if you look, it cut the little dudes hand right off, so not sure what Sodak is talking about there. Traps are not only set off by weight alone. You have to consider force also. If you push against a trap or jump, even lighter creatures can set off traps.

I can't say if it's real or not but I don't think, for sure, it has been proven either way.

She doesn't tolerate discussions about 'evolution' yet here she is, looking like she should be on all fours.
