Some really impressive plays, but he gets out of his stance nearly standing straight up... that's asking for an NFL beat down. Hopefully Nunnelly fixes that quickly.

Started 8 out of 28 games for Northern Iowa his junior and senior year. Not because of injury. He just couldn't beat out the competition at Northern Iowa. |

IMO - he's a great guy for the practice squad. He really has the chance to develop, but he will need some time and coaching to excel.
Good pickup, but a project guy. |

I'm hoping Carlton Powell and Chris Baker make an impact. Also wishing the team would get Alan Branch from AZ. Maybe Nunnelly can mold him into the type of NT that he had in SD.
Alan Branch-DL- Cardinals Jul. 30 - 1:07 am et Cardinals NT Alan Branch made the weight coaches prescribed for him on the first day of training camp. He's at 332, his lowest since being drafted 33rd overall in 2007. Branch has been a bust to this point, though, and remains buried on the depth chart. Believe it or not, he'll face a better breed of blockers in the NFL than he did at UNI. People who can get low and put him on the ground without issue and then tag the second level if he's standing up like that.

I doubt anyone is expecting him to do more than make the PS this year. I seem to remember hearing that he was going to be a pretty big project when we picked him up, but he has the measurements necessary to excell in the 3-4 if he gets developed properly.

No, I definitely believe he will be facing stiffer competition in the NFL. Im not sure why you introduced that into the discussion. Im not saying he is ready made (hence "diamond in the rough").

He looks strong as hell though. Tossing those blockers around in that video.

You're right. That was misleading by me. Sorry lex. As for the rest, I like his quickness, and his reads looked pretty quick (though they always should on a highlight vid). Didn't seem very strong, but that could be a bi-product of standing up as well.

How do you mean? His upper body looked ridiculously strong, almost every play his blocker was lying face first on the ground after he tossed them there. I might agree on his lower body though, he did seemed to get pushed back more than he should have considering how big he is. But like you said, that could be more a problem with leverage than strength.

His biggest problem will to get his hips low. In the NFL and most big time DI programs it is all about leverage, he won't be able to out quick/over power like he did at UNI. He does have the frame/size/speed that you can't teach. With our new coaches I think he will be a great prospect to keep an eye on even if he does goto the PS.

Were those shots from the Goodyear blimp or what. I couldn't watch the entire clip, my eyes were going crossed.

This has been posted before but I sure did enjoy seeing it again. Thanks.
Lots of raw talent there, to be sure; I especially like his lateral movement when he hits a blocker head on. In these clips, it appears he uses that movement to shake blockers. I will be looking at he and Chris Baker to show something this TC. |

Watching the video (too bad the view was from such a far distance) the points are valid. One thing that stood out to me was his initial burst is huge, and his overall speed is incredible for a big man. Hopefully he makes Practice squad through waivers. Seems to have huge upside.

You just said he doesn't look strong, which I disagree with, not that he looks somewhat weak in his lower body. It doesn't matter though. I was just clarifying.

Whatever. You said he doesn't look strong. I think he looks incredibly strong. I just wanted to make sure you didn't see something I didn't.
Go back to jacking off in the mirror douchebag. |
