Default Need ideas for camp: Best way to show defensive formations.

There has been a request that we doodle pictures of the defensive formations for camp. I did this last year, and while it was fun (and to my knowledge, we never actually ran that defensive package I drew a picture of during the season) it was kind of time consuming. I have a scanner. So perhaps doodling on a template and then scanning it and putting it up would be easier.

So my question is this: Does anyone have any templates or other ideas on how to get these things on here for all to see? Maybe a template that I can fill in quickly and then copy? Just photos? Bewbz?

Thanks.

Yup, just scan em. Quickest and easiest please. Try and draw the splits etc to scale best you can though.

If you have the time, draw in arrows for stunts, blitzes, drop backs, etc if possible.

This will be cool to see. Nolan/McD have talked about transitioning to a 3-4 slowly, or running a hybrid situation. Camp should give us some clues, for sure.

Would you like to know the audibles and line calls that are barked out as well, Sir?

I'd like to know what the route tree is shaping up like.

We used to get into it back in HS. We all had favorite teams and if you really watch the film you can build a route tree, with the distances the wr run them.

It's interesting to see how one team runs its drag in's at 5 yrds, others at 8 yrds etc etc. With Cutler wr ran there curls really deep because he had time and a strong arm. I'm thinking the new system will hack 2-3 yrds of the curls which last yr had some big ones like 15 plus yrds.

It would be really cool to see the actually tree and how many different yrdage distances they have for each route.

People have no idea how intricate that part of a playbook gets.

Mount a web cam on your baseball cap.

Just make sure to take it off when going to the bathroom or during special Kuper alone time.

I can not wait for the camp report when Fred throws you out for diagramming the plays.

Do it. You can make individual players appear in the diagrams.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I've downloaded the program and am fiddling with it. Hopefully I'll be proficient enough with it by camp to put up some illustrations.

I did have some concerns, though. I haven't seen any site doing this. While this would make us unique, it also raises questions to whether we're making thing easier on our opponents. Hopefully Dove Valley doesn't mind. I know they are watching us very closely this year.

Personally, I don't think we should be diagramming anything. I'm almost completely sure that the Broncos would be furious about us divulging diagrams of what sets etc. they are installing.

I think its a very, very bad idea that brings great risk needlessly.

For Christ's sake, do you really think other teams couldn't just send a guy to our Training Camp to get the same info?

I actually thought about that too. With the new regime and the extra watchful eye maybe not wise.

However if its in general terms like they lined up in 3-4 here is who was lined up where kind of diagram that is so general it wouldn't matter. Now if we were diagraming their shifts, blitz looks and what not that is a different thing.

I would get feedback from the boss on this one though its got the potential to get us in trouble.

Exactly. I am VERY hesitant and concerned about this. I really would like Taco to look over this idea when he gets back on Tuesday.

I don't think we should do anything that might jeopardize things or piss them off.....we really need to be extra careful on this type of thing. Personally, I wouldn't do it, regardless. We could describe what we generally see because thats the whole point of the reports, but not diagramming specific defensive sets and stuff like that.

It's good to see my compatriots have my same concerns. I'll wait to hear from Taco but maybe we should just nix the whole diagram thing.

We can hide the diagrams like the government does with the truth about a lot of things. It never happened. Wink, wink.
