It's kinda boring till the 1:00 mark

There's just something about tornadoes that's freakier than any other natural disaster. The form is just so menacing and they can just pop up without warning. Visually, at least... there's nothing that comes close, imo. Growing up in the midwest, it could be a sunny afternoon, and minutes later, pitch-black at 3 in the afternoon and tornado conditions.

We just drove partly across the country. Encountered some weather on the way back. Here's a pic from my wife's car. Not 15 minutes earlier, we were driving in sun. The storm to the left in the pic hit us about 25 minutes after the pic. It was perfect tornado conditions. We barely made it off the road to some shelter in zero visibility conditions. Never saw any twisters, but was almost surprised we didn't, given the high winds and nature of the storm.
