thats a ****ing sweet bridge... if i ever had to make the choice of a bridge id commit suicide from ,that thing is it. No chance in hell to survive and you get a great view on the way down. Although you'd probley have longer to regret what your doing that would suck.

Use to drive that road to Vegas back in the day from Tucson. Little did I know there are some very nice hot spring holes just below that dam. FYI.

They decided to build it after the 911 stuff. They don't want common traffic going over the dam anymore. And it will save alot more then 30-45 minutes. That's if you could just drive right over Hoover dam with no backed up traffic. Every time I went, which has been about 15 times, it's been total BS getting over that thing. Just getting from one side of the dam to the other usually took a good 30 minutes. Always waiting for your turn and then all the cars parked along the side of the road before and after it cutting in front of you. And then the single lane stuff blew, big ole trucks take for ever to get moving. Yeah, it was neat the first time and then I always hated going over it. It was a hassle to say the least.
That's gonna be one spooky bridge to drive over man. |

It's going to take two extra years to build the bypass bridge near the Hoover Dam. The bridge is being designed to carry traffic from US-93 between Nevada and Arizona.
A federal official overseeing construction now says the project won't be done until 2010. It was supposed to be complete in 2008. The delay is expected to cost more, although an amount has not been named. The project had been on time and under budget until a powerful windstorm last September caused construction cranes to collapse and halted work until the cranes could be rebuilt. Crews are now going to have to erect another set of special cranes to complete the span across the Colorado River. |

Now we know where that 800 billion went!
I think I read that project is 30 million, or is that a misprint? Anyone have the $#? 30 billion sounds high. 300 million sounds right. Last edited by watermock; 07-09-2009 at 12:36 AM.. |

When my brother graduated bootcamp in SD, we drove back through Vegas. My mom and I went over the hoover dam at 630 am or so, sun was coming up. Had the guys out there regulating traffic, I dont think they even had the cranes up for the bridge yet. Was pretty awesome.

That place is so full of electromagnetics and both neg and pos ions, it makes you tingle.
Take the full tour to see real craftsmanship. |
