Default Vacation Time: Questions for Ya'll

Hey folks, hope everything is well with you all.

Just had a question for anyone who is in the Georgia/Florida/South Carolina area. (Or if anyone not from there who has knowledge of the area; your input is appreciated as well.) I'll be flying to Savannah on Friday evening and will be there from July 3rd to the 12th. My buddy from high school is getting married and the bridesmaids and groomsman and the wedding couple all have pitched in to rent a historic house with a cottage in downtown Savannah.

My buddy knows the area well, (he lives there and is stationed at Ft. Benning) -- but I was just curious if anyone else knew of some good places in the surrounding area -- (give or take five hours). What's there to do, anything I should be aware of?

Just trying to make this a wonderful vacation. It's not often where about 10 of your best buddies get to go meet new woman in a completely foreign area of the country and I'm looking to make the best of it. Oh, and bachelor party ideas too would be a plus; we were thinking an escort service or something along that order -- but perhaps that's too cliche.

Thanks, and hope to hear some answers.

Peace!

-- Chris

Hilton Head Island. Anyone can find anything they like to do there and have fun and it's got a respectable volume of hot girls.

My Wife's Brother lives just outside Savannah (he was also stationed at Ft. Benning), so we go down there at least every Year-it's really kind of a cool place (unless you go there in the Summer -it's like walking into a Sauna), so we try and go off-season-it's great in the Winter-especially around Christmas.

Anyway, Savannah is known to be one of the most Haunted places in the US-there are some cool Ghost Tours, most of Forrest Gump was filmed there, and don't forget to take the Port Tour (on a Paddlewheel Boat)-if you are into American History, there's also a really cool Museum dedicated to the Mighty Eight's (WWII), and I spent an entire day in there just reading and looking at stuff-here's a Link:

http://www.mightyeighth.org/

Also, Savannah has a rich History from the Civil War, so lots to see there (Fort Jackson, Fort Screven or Fort Pulaski)-Tybee Island is a cool place close to Fort Jackson (on the Ocean), and you can take a Kayak Tour or go Deep Sea Fishing there. There are a lot of Pubs, great places for Food and Nightlife-oh, and don't forget the boiled Peanuts and Sweet Tea (get yours "half and half")-

chiming in since i've lived most of my life in the nc. savannnah is a awesome. go to river st. cool cobblestone street, very old, but plenty of bars to get blitzed. if you have time, i suggest to go to hilton head, a 45 min. drive. there will be plenty of girls on vacation there and really the better of the beaches. go to charleston, sc which is a two hr drive but another old world city but plenty of girls (college of charleston 3:1 girl to guy) and a couple more awesome beaches. check out king st. and you'll have a blast.

Awesome to see the volume of people agreeing with me about HHI.

We used to have a place on the Wexford plantation. Where do you guys stay?

It's a really cool place with so much to do. Beautiful weather, laid back attitude, young pretty girls all over. If you take a boat out, Dolphins will even swim up to your boat begging for food and you can pet them or hop in and swim. The one draw-back is that the beach sand is pretty hard... which makes for great beach walks and riding bikes on it, but eh... and loads of jellyfish.

FYI, it's literally right next to Parris Island.

Lol, I'd rather do a year in Iraq than the last morning/afternoon of the Crucible again. I remember being completely exhausted and carrying two extra rifles because people are pussies, after humping ten miles and up through combat town, and saying "Is that it?" to the dude next to me, who then pointed to the where the Reaper starts and you can't even see where it ends in the clouds...

The only thing I remember about the Crucible was looking up at the Reaper and thinking "oh ****" and passing dozens of guys from platoons ahead of mine
