NFL Teams getting most wins for the money - The Orange Mane

Not sure if this was posted. I jotted this down a couple weeks ago to share but haven't had the time to visit much here lately. Just thought it was very interesting considering the other teams we're mentioned with....

According to the NFL network:

Least money spent per win for the last five years.

#1 Pats W63-17 $8.14 (Mil per win)
#2 Colts W63-17 $8.44
#3 Chargers W54-26 $8.99
#4 Steelers W56-24 $9.22
#5 Broncos W47-33 $10.37
#6 Giants W47-33 $10.58

btw, most $ spent: #32 Raiders W20-60 $25.66 mil

It sucks that only us and the Chargers are the only two teams without a SB win during that period. Still I think we could have won one in the next 3 years if not sooner with Mike if Pat had just been patient. I know I will get blasted for saying that and posters will say we have been waiting long enough. Remember the Steelers waited and it paid off. I just don't want to become like the 49ers a great team so long ago.

Interesting that we were the only one without both a Defense and a PROVEN top tier QB in the group as well as having back to back mediocre years thrown into the mix.

It's funny, yesterday Colin Cowherd was talking about this list and he only named the top 4 teams which are pretty easy to guess but I thought right away why did he start at 4 and not the top 3 or 5?

Guess he didn't want to lump Denver in with the others.

Yep let me tell you we sure were spoiled in the regular season

But yes we were very spoiled! But look who is at number one and look who Bowlen took a coach from. I see a pattern.

Priceless. Another misnomer attempt at humor.

Shanny never sucked and still does not suck. However, he was no longer great, just good at middling the field and NOT sucking.....

1 playoff win in 10 seasons isn't spoiled.

Shanny was a great coach, but our success to $$ ratio was likely more a result of him being a great game-day coach than it was our franchise being effective. Shanahan could take a guy like Plummer and do great things with him. He always fielded an offense that could keep us in contention. But, ultimately... his inability to draft and/or sign talent (particularly defensive) was his undoing.

I'll guarantee you this, few other coaches in the league could have had the winning % Shanahan had with the same talent over that decade. That's a real tribute to his coaching ability.

But, time marches on, and now it's time for this team to return to elite status again. Being happy with some regular season wins isn't enough for Bowlen and most of the fans.

Yah, I watched this NFLN show too. The guys in the discussion mentioned every team except the Broncos even though the Broncos are #5.

As for all those who are going to say "see, Shanahan knows best" have to remember that only the Broncos and the Chargers have not won a SB during that time. Furthermore, the difference between wins and losses for the Broncos and Steelers is 18 games (and two SB championships). Also, even though the Giants and the Broncos have similar numbers, the Giants have a SB championship to show for it.

Translation: post season wins people. Shanahan did NOT get it done.

Well, Shanny did the 5th best in the NFL for what Bowlen was giving him. Let's see how McD does under similar circumstances.

What I see is it is mainly Bill Belicheck the person not his system. Add Parcells to that mix who didn't win a playoff game without BB. Unless BB is coming with, the NE coaches don't have that good of a track record on their own. Thats the pattern I see. Not saying McD can't be the exception just saying I think it says more about BB than his system

I'd go one step further and say that it's mainly Brady (and a few video cameras), not Belichick. Look at good ole Billy B's record without Brady. It makes Shanny's record post-Elway look God-like.

Take it one step farther: all the teams listed have solid QB play. Brady just happens to be the QB on the (arguably) best team.
