Default Offseason Movie Suggestions

This is a thread to suggest movies for people to watch! You can also talk about them.

If you post a recommendation for a movie, you must put the name + IMDB link + the genre.

Name: Crank

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479884/

Genre: Action/Comedy/Crime

I saw this movie last night as was thoroughly amused!

Had a lot of random and funny **** going on.

Same movie as the last one?

And by "last one" I mean "every Jason Statham film"

No... it had a really funny gimmick in that Jason is a contract killer who had to keep his adrenaline flowing the entire film or he'd die... so you can imagine how crazy things could get.

Yeah, but with this tagline, how can one resist: He was dead...But he got better

I like Statham, he's got ummm, range, yes...a really nice range...

Decent. In retrospect wasn't worth the theatre, but on DVD/TV for sure.

I'm actually really confused myself... Rev reposted the same movie I did + the sequel which was merely a continuation of the first film only since they couldn't keep the poison thing going they made him have to shock himself. It was also David Carradine's last movie. The film Crank in of itself is a completely original Stratham film, not like any of his others from a plot perspective... and as stated, the sequel literally picked up right where the 1st film left off so it's basically one long film... anyway.

Name: Collateral

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369339/

Genre: Crime/Drama/Thriller

This is an often forgotten film... pretty damn good one too.

Collateral is pretty good ... I'm the rare bird who really likes Tom Cruise.

Here's a few you can rent, but CAUTION: There are no wizards, no fantasy sequences, ninjas or nunchuks .....

Just good adult-oriented comedy/dramas, most of these you probably never saw:
Wonder Boys
The Paper
The Spanish Prisoner
Lone Star
Angel Eyes
Hard 8
Nobody's Fool (the Paul Newman one)
Midnight Run
Twilight (Gene Hackman, Paul Newman one)

Awesome movie that not too many people seem to know about.

Collateral is also a good one.

Green Street Hooligans is one I was told to watch. Might check that one out.

Since people are mentioning The Prestige (which I also agree kicked ass)

I feel I should bring up it's thematic competition ala Dante's Peak/Volcano and Armageddon/Deep Impact.

I also think Edward Norton kicks ass (see Fight Club if you haven't!!! and American History X).

Name: The Illusionist

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443543/

Genre: MAGIC!

Which did you like better? I've heard the Illusionist is good and I'm a Norton fan, so I'll have to check it out.

Both are good, but the Prestige is excellent and head and shoulders better than the Illusionist.
