Default Neti Pot...

I have had an awful sinus problem for the last week or so.

I finally saw a neti pot and decided to give it a try.

I must say....it solved my sinus issue in a few days.

I have to admit that draining warm salt water through my nostrils sounded weird, but has really cleared me up.

Anyone else try this?

The Junkie gives it two nostrils up.

It works. Surprisingly well for most people.

If you are slated to have surgery, give this a shot first.

I was miserable all week and it cleared me up after using it 4 or 5 times.

Good news for sure. Sinus problems can be a major, major drag.

Funny, the Doc would just give tetracyclene.

Big pharm hates home remedies.

I do nasal rinses. They're great for colds. I haven't used the actual neti pot since I left it in my old apartment. There is supposed to be a nasal shooter that works even better out there. I just use a glass and some table salt.

Been using one for many years, even started a thread about the benefits of the Netti Pot a few years back and got almost as much ridicule as I did for the colon cleanses I recommended. Should I tell you morons about a gall bladder flush?

Oh and try a little wheat grass juice in the netti pot and get a super flush and clear infections too.

True enough, seems like they have modified the Hippocratic oath to "First let us do some harm". Often using a hammer first when a thumb nail will do the trick.

Table salt is a little harsh Khan not PH balanced for your sinuses, just pick up some of those replacement packages at the Pharmacy for either the 'Ayr' Saline Nasal Rinse', or the 'NeilMed Sinus Rinse'.

They are Isotonic and those kits come with a handy Nasal rinse bottles if you cant find the Neti pot.

I may have to give one another try. For some reason, every time I use one, I end up with water in my ears. But that was always more with the kind that you squirt - rather then the actual pot, where you pour.

The pot is much more gentle. I would be surprised if you could get water in your ears using the pot.

Haha, I've used the kind that's like a squirt bottle, it's soooo disorienting feeling water go up the inside of your face and then work it's way to the other side. It's even weirder if it somehow reroutes to the back of your throat. I stopped using it because the idea of boogers in my throat was just gross.

If you have allergies they work pretty well to clean out the sinuses for that too.

I use the Neilmed sinus rinse every morning. It's basically a squeeze bottle for a saline solution. The nice thing is that you don't have to be a contortionist; you just lean over a sink and give it a squeeze. I used to get a couple of sinus infections a year that I couldn't shake and had to go through a round of antibiotics. Since I started the sinus rinses; no infections for four years!

The starter package (bottle and packets of saline) is like 18 or 20 bucks at Walgreens. Buy it!

That's the thing I used that put the water in my ears. I used it for awhile, because the pharmacist told me it really shouldn't be a problem. But I finally got an ear infection, so I quit. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me every day for a couple months, shame on me.
