Roger Ebert liked the film, stating, "It is a good story, a natural, and it grabs us.On the movie website IMDB, the film has a score of 7.8/10, and has been in the Top 250 Movies of All Time list, but has since fallen off due to higher-scoring films ![]() |

Like most Stephen King stories, GREAT book, mediocre movie. Seriously, read the book. So much of King's writing revolves around the thoughts of the characters, particularly what's going on in the central character's mind, and this is almost impossible to translate to film.
