Another court shoves its head firmly up its crevasse. We wonder why our courts have lost the respect of our people; It's idiotic findings like this.

here is the trick.............if you download illegal music, and you get busted.........go buy the Cd's........pay cash so they can't track when you bought them..............its totally legal to have the mp3s if you own the cd's

i know alot of people with over 50gb of mp3, thats alot of cds

They're just trying to set a stupid president. How an entire jury agreed to this is beyond me. Maybe it's completely made up of 70-80 year old people or people who've never been near a computer before? They should just fine her about 4x what the songs were... just say an even $100 and she's on her way.

If this lady was fined 1.9 million for 24 songs I can only imagine what the fines would be for 50 GB.

24 songs ~ 100 MB = 1.9 million fine

50 GB = ~ 15000 songs = ~ 1.1 billion fine

I'm unclear on this whole deal. First, how do they nail you? If, for example, you go to a foreign site, download a song or album, and put it on your Ipod but do not share it, is this illegal? Is it traceable? Many of the foreign sites say they do pay royalties to Russian copyright firms but I haven't seen evidence of this.

It sounds like they nailed her for putting up songs to exchange with others after she downloaded them, is this correct?

If only she knew about peerguardian. The only way they catch you is if you download something from one of their traps or they download it from you. There are IP blockers that prevent you from ever connecting to known online file sharing traps.

She's in trouble for making said MP3 available to 1000's of people. You don't understand the issue quite correctly.

No one is getting busted for making a few mp3 or even downloading a song.

Don't be surprised when it comes out that most if not all the jurors also own this stock.
