If this doesn't get your blood pumping, I don't know what will.

I enjoy the fact that MAYBE 2 guys interviewed thought Elway's placement at #2 was correct. Even in Montana's #1 video people point out how good Joe's teams were.
And Steve Davis seems to be a douchebag. You have to be incredibly biased to think John is too HIGH on this list...

All Hail King Elway™

"Though usually surrounded by a human rummage sale, Elway has won more games as a starter than any other quarterback in NFL history.... It’s the equivalent of carving Mount Rushmore with a spoon or composing Beethoven’s Ninth on a kazoo." ---Rick Reilly, Sports Illustrated

2nd?

Elway's greatness was encapsulated by his late-game heroics against more talented teams.

Elway is the best in that category, and its not really even close, IMO.

Montana was awesome as well, but being clutch was not his strength.

People love to criticize Elway but its hard to overlook what he accomplished in Denver. Those Bronco teams had average offenses at best, and good defenses, and he took them to 3 Super Bowls in the 80's. The 90's teams were superb and had a lot of talent.
Most of the time, when the team needed something, he did it.

I think Elway's "Drive" and Montana's pass to Clark are the most recognized QB clutch plays of all time in the NFL. The Drive, I mean, who doesn't know what that is. Even if you're a 16 year old Bucs fan, you still know "The Drive".

The Drive is completely overrated. It didn't result in a Super Bowl champion.

If that's the case then there's a lot of moments in sports history that are overrated. A few that come to mind:

The Immaculate Reception
The shootout between the Dolphins and Chargers in the 1982 playoffs
The Bills coming back from being down like 35 to 3 against the Oilers in the 1893 (I believe) playoffs.
In basketball, Derek Fisher's game winner against the Spurs with .4 seconds left on the clock. That shot swung the series in the Lakers favor.
Reggie Miller scoring 8 points in 9 seconds against the Knicks in the 1995 Eastern Conference semifinals.

We could come up with a much longer list than that. There are a lot of great moments in playoff history that didn't result in a title. I wouldn't call any of them overrated.

Nowitzki's and-1 vs. the Spurs in game 7 of what was one of the greatest playoff series of all time in '06.

Bob will know that one.

Thats why we have "the dive", because the helicopter dive did result in a Superbowl champion. We have various forms of success in the Broncos franchise.
