Default Fantasy Football Keepers

So, I am in a keeper league and I am thinking about my keepers early.

We are allowed to keep 2 defensive players, 2 offensive players. We also have 2nd and 3rd round tenders, so you can keep a player but another team can offer their 2nd or 3rd round draft pick for the player and then you must trade him. We also have a 2 round rule, where you can give up a draft pick in a round 2 round highers than the round in which you selected a player and then keep him. So essentially I can keep 4 player (2 and 2) who are safe, I can keep 1 low round draft pick safe, and I have 2 players who I can keep unless someone gives me a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick respectively.

These are the players I am considering:

Matt Forte
Brandon Marshall
Wes Welker
Lee Evans
Eddie Royal
Trent Edwards

Elvis Dumervil
Demeco Ryans
Cortland Finnegan
Robert Mathis

Royal and Edwards are elligible for the 2 round rule, I would give up a 16th round pick for Edwards or a 17th round pick for Royal.

I am thinking I will keep Finnegan and Mathis as my defensive players.

I will make Forte and Marshall my safe keepers. I will put a 2nd round on Welker and 3rd round on Edwards and give up a 17th round pick for Royal.

I feel like Evans is not as valuable with TO in the flock, but Edwards may have a good year with Evans, TO and Lynch.

On defense I am not sure what to expect from Dumervil, if he plays a lot at OLB I feel like he could be a sack monster, but I feel like Mathis is more a safe thing. Finnegan is a guy I like for his INTs, but I am not sure how the loss of Haynesworth will affect how people play against Tennessee.

I'd make keeping Welker the #1 priority with Forte #2. With Brady back and Cutler gone, Welker will be in a better position to score touchdowns than Marshall. Houston should have an awesome defense this year, so Demeco Ryans might be good to have, too. I'd be leery about Finnegan without Fat Albert there busting up triple teams.

Forte #1, I don't play defensive players so other than that I don't know.

Forte is a beast though for sure. Plus he's young.

Yikes. Your list looks sparse to me. I just won the keeper league I'm in. We keep seven players (only offense) and I've got:

Forte,
Marshall,
Cutler,
Jones-Drew,
Slaton,
Winslow Jr.,
Frank Gore,
Jennings,
Calvin Johnson,

Luckily, we allow trades for draft picks before we do final cuts, so I'm going to be shopping a couple of these guys around.

It is very sparse, I took over the team 2 years ago and it was anchored by Laurence Maroney, Jake Delhomme, Derek Anderson, Javon Walker, Welker, Antonio Gates and Fred Davis, so I had to do a complete rebuild over the last 2 years, the only player I have kept from that team is Welker, I lost Gates in a numbers crunch last year and Willis Mcgahee was picked up for a 2nd round pick.

depending on your scoring rules...i'd go with Forte and B-Marsh...

perhaps Welker in ppr leagues...but Welker won't score touchdowns, and B-Marsh under McD has a chance to get redzone looks...

It is PPR, but not not a ton. What I like about Marshall is that he has 90+ reception potential and will get red zone looks.

I am in a keeper league as well only we keep 3 players I have westbrook, cutler, calvin johnson, and Antonio Bryant. I am not really sure I want to keep cutler as he has no recievers and a horrible line but who else do I take?

not to make this a cutler debate but .... antonio bryant is a little more risky. IMO WR are a little easier to find then QB.... westbrook is getting long in the tooth also.

Keep

1) Forte

and

2) Royal or Marshall (I'd give 19 the slight nod right now)

My league keeps 3 players at different positions, I just finished 11-2 with:

Drew Brees (Keeping)
Jay Cutler (GTFO PUNKASS)

DeAngelo Williams (Finally lives up to the hype! Keeping)
LaDanian Tomlinson (GTFO PUNKASS)
Thomas Jones (Solid but Old Punkass)

Greg Jennings (Toss Up)
Brandon Marshall (Toss Up)
Eddie Royal (Want to, but can't justify keeping)

Dallas Clark (Want to keep, cuz he was steller in December, but gotta go WR/QB/RB I think)

Philly/TB Defense (Who keeps a defense wtf)

I'm set on Brees and Williams. Not sure about Jennings/Marshall/Clark yet though, pretty sure it will be Jennings though.
