SO under rated ... one of best band of land 30 years . They took 10 years off between cds and if you never heard the newer stuff you should listen ..,

http://www.last.fm/music/Tesla/Into+The+Now

have a listen
Have everything they've done including both cover records. Love it all. I just took my Son to see them last week and he got 6 guitar picks a drum stick from Troy Lucketta, several high fives from the band, a signed set list, and a photo with Jeff Keith.

It was my son's first show, and he got all of that his first night. It took me 30 years of going to shows to get all that.

Their 3rd record, Psychotic Supper, is my favorite of theirs and is considered the best by most of the band members. Jeff Keith and Frank Hannon both consider it their best effort.

Bust a Nut is great too. All 6 of their studio records are great in my opinion.

I was not a big fan of both cover records. Met Frank Hannon in Chicago with his band at the time Moon Dog Mane.

1. Metallica - the first decade in particular
2. Led Zeppelin - I'm currently jamming to the Song Remains the Same and am addicted to the version of No Quarter
3. Black Sabbath - I've blown many a car speaker listening to Sabbath
4. Iron Maiden - Live After Death is a must have
5. The Doors - Show me the way to the next whiskey bar...

Other bands/performers, in no particular order - Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Hendrix, Tool.

Yeah yeah yeah, I should have seen that one coming! They're a very good band with some very good songs, but I could do without most of their overplayed radio schmooze songs.

Supposedly Jimmy Hendrix said Terry Cath them most amazing player he ever heard. Listen to him close and you will see just how unique of a lead guitar he was. He was a special musician, too bad he shot himself.
Terry Kath rep ... thanks for that link!

Hendrix definitely did say he was the best ......

Here's a little song for TDmvp:

When you were challenged
You cried and cried and cried
The Cito winds came whistling in
You cried to a higher power
You felt a moment of enablement
You thought it was strength to hide

I think I listed him as an alternate. As far as listening to bands where the lead guitar player is the Main attraction, I'd still have to give Stevie Ray the nod there. What's funny is there was a short time along time ago where I was so into the Satriani type stuff and now when I go back and listen to it, I'm bored after 5 minutes of it.

Ever heard the song "the healer" with John Lee Hooker and Carlos on guitar?

haha, was there as well....

was quite a good show. My first Metallica show since 92. Sound was horrible for Machine Head, but got better for Metallica. Still, acoustics in the Schleyerhalle suck major ass

I would easily put him in my "top guitarists" list. I just didn't consider him a "rock band" per se...
