Nobody can beat the Boss and the E street Band live. Top five greatest live band ever? Got to be up there.

Nothing new from last 10 years?

I love most of those bands also but this is 2009, not '69, '79, '89 or '99.

I played with a few "perfectionist" guys back in the day and hated every minute of it. Nothing sucks the fun out of being in a band quicker than a guy like that...JMO.

“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead

But until then… “

They told me I would live forever
If I kept it clean
They said I would be the chosen one
If I took one for the team

Yeah it’s the only way to be
Never think it isn’t fair
That’s a green eyed panic climb
To the edge of nowhere

Give it to the chicken
And see if it ticks
Yeah give it to the kitten
And see if it sicks
Then give it to the wonderful
Wonderful me
And I will tell on my return
The way it is
With all the happy boys and girls
Yeah the whole h-h-happy world
And the love they feel for me
Yeah the love they feel for me

“Sleep when I’m dead
You angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead
You angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said

They told me I could run the world
If I kept it quiet
They said I could be the man
If I took it out of sight

In a monkey suit again
Having fun with all your friends
How a casual hour can pull
All this world to pieces

Give it to the bunny
And see if she kicks
Yeah give it to the puppy
And see if he sticks
Then give it to the wonderful
Wonderful me
I’ll let you know when I get back
Just how it is
With all the other boys and girls
Yeah the whole f… f…
Other world

And the way it stirs inside
And the why it never burns at night
And the way they make the climb
And the why they never pray for time
And the way I show surprise
And the why I never close my eyes
Yeah just how it is…

“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead” I said
“Sleep when I’m dead you angels
I’ll sleep when I’m dead

But until then… “

Well…
I should at least feel tired I think
Before I lay me down to dream

You haven't spent much time on music threads on the Mane. Don't you know? Eric Clapton sucks.

I'm not sure what's real and what's sarcasm at this point ... but I've always thought Clapton was severely overrated.

The guy who scrawled 'Clapton is God' across the wall in that Underground Station was dyslexic. He meant 'Clapton is (a) Dog.'

Fantastic guitar players I've seen in concert over the years, in no particular order:

Eric Clapton
Pete Townsend
Jimmy Page
Todd Park Mohr
Billy Gibbons
Dicky Betts
Alex Lifeson
Steve Stevens
Billy Duffy
Frank Black (Black Francis)
Billy Joe Armstrong
Bob Mould
Jim & William Reid
Elliot Easton

To name a few, can't remember all the bands I've seen over the years and I'm sure I'm forgetting some good ones...

I just get bored with guitar virtuoso stuff all the time - after a while it just sounds the same.

Beck doesn't have some sort of permanent group - Tal was just hired as a sideman(woman) for the project in question.

That was the rep Beck had in the early years, but he's mellowed quite a bit with age.

I don't think EC sucks, but it bothers me that so many other British blues/rock players of his generation who can play him under the table don't get nearly as much recognition/acclaim.

It kind of reminds me of a NAMM show back in the mid 90s when Eddie Van Halen, Steve Morse, and Albert Lee performed together. Van Halen basically got his head handed to him by Morse and Lee (he was shaking his head in disbelief throughout most of the performance) - but whose autograph did everyone want after the show? EVH's.

Alvin Lee of Ten Years After is also another fantastic ax slinger. I always get Albert Lee and Alvin Lee mixed up...

Elliot Easton is one fantastic session guitar player. Live, he was not all that impressive but whenever I put in a Cars CD I marvel at the perfection of his riffs, and his ability to do seamless solos that fit perfectly into the body of the song... IMHO he is the quintessential pop rock guitar player.

And he's a lefty...
