Default Swine Flu

I'm in Texas and the school districts in my area (DFW) are closing because of Swine Flu. It seems to be bigger than we are being told, but it could be an over reaction, who knows. Regardless, please wash your hands, spray everything down with lysol, and be cautious. I talked to my mom in Cortez, Colorado and she said they don't have any reports but be careful. It has gone from Mexico City to here in a matter of days. Its is a bit scary around here. I am an administator in a school and will keep you informed if I hear anything.

I remember getting Russian Flu in the 70's and it sucked. That is my last recollection of anything similiar to this.

If it's anything like the swine flu that hit in 1918, it will attack the strongest, unlike conventional influenza which usually kills the weakest (old and very young). It killed millions in '18-'19.

It's here in Delaware. I'm hearing very contageous but not very virulent. Just hope my kids don't get it.

Let's manufacture $100 billion in vaccines that will save 3 lives, IMMEDIATELY.

It is being sensationalized. But it's also essentially influenza without vaccine. The flu kills around 50k every year if I remember correctly.

Something like 36K people die a year from common flu.

Not that we shouldn't be concerned, but haven't only like 2 people been hospitalized for it in the U.S.?

Again, do anything you can to avoid it, but it seems that the doc is right, here. Panic is a bit premature.

I am not scared of swine flu. I'm scared of every distracted driver on the road.

Watch out for muskets too. I hear the musket killed a lot of people in '18-'19 as well.

Maybe you mean mustard gas, tank, or machine gun. WWI lasted from 1914 to 1918 and muskets were old hat. Maybe you heard about the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) and the flint lock or the Civil War (1861-8565) 58 Springfield muskets, they killed a lot of people then.

Flu is the flu, if you come down with it, drink a ton of juice, stay hydrated, take medication for the pain and help your body fight it off...like every other time you got the flu...

This is just like sars, birdflu, west nile. It's something that is blown completely out of proportion by the media. Yes, people will die from it, but guess what! More people will die from the regular flu.

The media does this just for ratings and it gets old.
