Default The Haul for Cutler

This is what the Broncos have received for young Pro-Bowl QB Jay Cutler:

Kyle Orton
Robert Ayers
1/2 of Rookie 3rd round TE Richard Quinn
Chicago's #1 in 2010

Sound like a good deal to you?

No, but then again, trading a franchise QB was never a good deal.

and one less headache... But so far Chicago is winning by far, but lets let the play on the field decide first...

I still believe Cutler and his agent forced a trade so that's somewhat of a moot point for me. We won't know about the picks for years, but Ayers looks damn good. It's been a long time since the Broncos have had a dominant rush end. Maybe we've got one now? This Oline and Moreno are going to make Orton look pretty good, I'm thinking. Cutler behind that Chicago Oline might have some rough going. Who knows where they finish next year. Maybe that first turns into a franchise QB with a good attitude or Mount Cody? Too early to know.

Right, cause all of these guys were former GM's and HC's

Armchair and laptop GM's unite!!

On the other hand most of these losers probably haven't seen daylight in years, so maybe all of the days of pounding stats into their heads instead of getting vajajay is paying off.

This has, what, exactly, to do with the Cutler trade?

No, not at all, I thought Cutler was really a total stud. But he and/or McDaniels had made up their mind that it wasn't going to work here. And I think that with the kind of smart, calculated, patient offense I expect from us, a boring QB should be able to succeed as long as they just do what they're told. We'll still be fine on offense.

I'm not sure that they forced a trade. I think that they were angling for a big money extension beyond the McD era. Either way, the Broncos had all the time in the world to deal with the problem. They chose to get it done to begin working on the 2009-2010 season. It behooves your franchise to stretch these things out as long as possible to get all of the emotions and public scrutiny out of the way so that you can work as many deals as you can.

The Broncos decided not to put that type of effort into moving "The Player" (other wise known as Jay Cutler), and got what they got.

Then they used their assets from the Cutler trade in questionable ways.

When Cutler is out of the league in four years due to diabetes- and alcohol-related problems, please bump this thread.

I have to agree with the "questionable." No doubt about that. To be honest, right now I can't really figure out what's going on. They say they're going to a 3-4 and then they take a hand in the dirt DE and no DT. I really like the Ayers pick. I'm just puzzled about how they're going to use him. The Moreno pick seems like a luxury, but I like a good running game so much I'm willing to feel good about that one. The Smith trade is a complete mind ****. So's the Quinn pick. I feel like that Martin Sheen character in Apocalypse Now when he says to Colonel Kurtz, "Plan? I don't see any plan at all."

Well done with the Kurtz reference.

This whole thing seems like logic tumbling down the slopes head-over-heels. The way that the franchise has been handled has been with much arrogance and little grace. The Cutler fiasco was handled very poorly by any standards (even given Cutler's general noncompliance), and the next big set of decisions McD had to make involved the draft...which looks as though it has been handled by amateurs.

Better than good......Hot damn it feels good to be a Bronco fan!

It's been 4 months now and I STILL can't believe how great it is that PB finally fired Stale-ahan.

The 'Mane is going to be so much better once all of the fantasy football douches are gone.

It's bad enough that they run the kid out of town. When you get **** value for him on top of that, it just makes it a god awful deal. Just flat out horrible. I'd rather have Bob's Mom than Richard Quinn. At least she could make a mean plate of mashed potatoes and I'm sure the players would appreciate that (esp. the linemen).
