what the hell is wrong with the coaches for this team?
We haven't had a decent D-Line in forever and it would be apparent to everyone here that the D-Line needed some players but NO we got to draft a RB, a OLB, an undersized DB and a TE that noone had heard of everyone of these picks were a reach and what we had to give up is pathetic WE NEED D-LINE !!!!! |

So they should draft DL they don't like or rate that highly instead of players they have rated higher? You're ok with that philosophy?

I think they understand the D-line needs work and this will still be addressed on Sunday and with free agency/cuts. But it doesn't make sense to pick up a guy just because he's a sexy name. If their scouts don't like what they've seen, there's no need to grab a dude just because he has a nice Youtube mixtape.

So Brace is a sure fire all pro in waiting? Look, there are some other big type NT's in this draft who can be had in the middle of this draft who will probably be just as good or bad as Brace.

Yup ... we draft an impressive ZERO d-linemen, despite trading into Day 1 TWICE.
Marcus Thomas, Ron Fields and Kenny Peterson. Oh yeah, that'll work. |

Didn't we do that a couple years ago? Drafted DL up and down day one because of 'need'. Some guys named Moss, Crowder, and Thomas. How'd that turn out?

no this thread is about passing on all the great 3-4 DL in this years draft not about trading away a first round pick in next years draft. I'm not a big fan about that trade either but i'm not going to cry like a 13 yearl old girl like you and many other broncos fans on this site.

We know you can't build a good defense back to front but when you don't have either you have to draft where the talent is and the talent was in the back and not the front. We could go into next year with a ****ty backfield and a highly questionable but very well paid front. Instead we'll go in with what should be a solid backfield and a questionable but cheap front. We'll at least have improved something on the defense. If we drafted linemen with all of our picks it's unlikely we would have seen any improvement anywhere as young defensive lineman takes a couple of years to develop (if you have a miracle and hit on your picks). Odds are half the lineman would have been total busts and we would have hit the jackpot just to get one stud out of it all. I'd rather have a bunch of solid players than play the DL lottery in a ****ty year for top linemen. |

Heres my take.
1st round. At 1st i was unimpressed, but i realized that Moreno was easily the best RB and a legit superstar. Lets face it, hes gonna be good here. Ayers is perfect for Nolan. He will prowl ala Adalius Thomas, Terrel Suggs and make plays as the Joker, which is a much needed position. Notice SD immediately took Larry English? yeah, i have no doubt that SD wanted Moreno 1 and Ayers 2 on their list. So we screwed over SD pretty bad. good F em! 2nd round. WTF!?!?! The trade was stupid and nobody can justify it. Yeah this guys a ballhawk, but playing NAVY and playing SD are 2 completely different situations. 5'9" is 5"9" period. This guys gonna have tyo do alot to impress many a DENVER fan. until then the jury is out. I think NT Ron Brace would have been a bigger need and a better solution. McBath. great player. lots of range and a solid centerfielder. Its just that he could of been taken in the 3rd easily. I think NT Dorell Scott would have been a bigger need and a better solution. Or DE Fili Moala who was taken shortly after McBath. Here the upside. Theres still plenty of solid players for DEN to take in the 3rd and 4th. NTs Dorell Scott Sammie Lee Hill Jarron Gilbert Terrence Taylor DEs Kyle Moore Alex Magee Mitch King Phillip Hunt Orion Martin OLBs Lawrence Sidbury Jason Williams So, hopefully DEN can somehow trade away Sheffler for a 3rd (please!) (I think that exactly what MCD is doing right now) And get back into the 3rd and get one of these players and hope some of the others fall into the 4th, so they can address the D-line dammit!!!!!! |

I love how people keep talking about Smith's height. I wonder how many of those same people also spent time calling Darrent Williams, also 5'9, if that, and also a 2nd round pick, a "midget?" Yeah, thought so.

He was NEVER a good CB. Above average at best. He was burned more often than not and always by taller, stronger WRs, such as Reggie Wayne and even Chris Henry. DWill was drafted by Shanny to return kicks and punts, play some nickel. But because of the Lenny Walls debacle, he was given a chance. He did ok, but was never "good" Alot of posters struggle with this because of his death, and give him this "legendary" status for no reason. |
