So much for Bob's plan of them taking Sanchez and then "selling him to the highest bidder."

Klye Orton : He's 21-12 as a starter. Including 15-2 at home, the best mark in the NFL since he joined. Cassel ain't throwing to Moss, Welker, Gaffney, Pollard & Watson in KC... He also doesn't have arguably the best offensive line in the NFL blocking for him any more... Orton on the other hand has the best set of young WRs in the league along with the best set of young OTs in the NFL blocking for him... |

So what is it? Deal or no deal?
http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/789 No new deal for Cassel Contrary to some Internet reports, the Chiefs did not sign Matt Cassel to a new contract extension. For the time being, at least, Cassel is under the one-year, $14.65 million contract he signed with New England before his trade to Kansas City. __________________________________________________ _____________ NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reported yesterday the deal includes $36 million in guaranteed money. Complete financial details weren't immediately known. Cassel was acquired from the Patriots, along with linebacker Mike Vrabel, in February. He led New England to an 11-5 record in place of injured quarterback Tom Brady, and finished with 3,693 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The Patriots put the franchise tag (and $14 million salary for 2009) on Cassel before trading him. Last edited by ZONA; 04-26-2009 at 12:35 AM.. |

WPI is reporting that despite giving Cassel 36 million, the Chiefs are negotiating with the Jets for the rights to Mark Sanchez so that they can sell him off for a King's ransom on Day 2....
They are attempting to get the Jets to agree to taking the Falcons first round and third round pick that the Chiefs got today for Dorsey. The deal is done.
