It's a good thing we got rid of the Goodmans. Wouldn't want that to happen again.

Hoping we can do as well again however. We're in position to pull another one off.

Again this shows how clueless these people are.

Clady might be the best player taken out of that draft.

I didn't see the show, but it says top 10 picks not top 10 players. I'm assuming that they considered where they were taken in the draft as well. Clady was the 12th pick, Royal the 42nd.

Perfect reason to scrap a team that was on the way up, just because they suffered numerous amounts of injuries on offense and defense.

the goodmans and shanahan had TWO good drafts and everyone's acting like our draft prowess disappeared when those guys were fired ... give me a break. the Broncos have struck out more often than hitting home runs, which is why they've really struggled on the defensive side of the ball. not just with the draft but also with free agency.

Not even close to ground zero. I don't understand the negativism. One of the few things I know about NFL football is that a studly o-line can carry a team a long ****in way and the Broncos do have a studly O-line and the talent on this o-line is independent of who the coach is. Talent is talent.

For this reason alone, we're not starting at ground zero. Stop chugging sour owl **** for your breakfast each morning.

agreed. if that draft were redone now, with everything we now know about last years rookies, Clady could go as high as number 1 but would probably go number 3(Ryan and Flacco go ahead of him only because of position they play and excelled at) and Royal wouldn't make it out of the top 10.

Woodyard would probably get some notice as a mid round guy as well.

So...you would agree with the statement that a franchise QB is worth more than anything else that we have on the roster?

On a similar note, Ryan is worlds better than Flacco. Flacco did a good job of playing Trent Dilfer last season. We'll see if he can blossom into a franchise QB.

I thought I saw, or read something somewhere that had a 'do-over' of the '08 draft and Ryan Clady was the #1 pick.

Eddie Royal is special though. I had no idea whatsoever who he was when he was drafted. I honestly thought it was another Shanahan 'flyer'.

No they don't.

We have guys on the scouting staff that have been scouting for the Broncos for 10-30 years. About 3 of them are relatively new to the Broncos. The scouts are told what type of players to look for and at the end of the day, the guy that makes the pick is the guy at the top (McDaniels) not the scouts.

Yeah, and we removed the guy who, up until recently, sucked at drafting.

Our scouts know what they're doing, and I bet McDaniels has a much better draft than the average Shanahan draft.

It's well known that the Goodmans ran the last couple drafts, not Shanahan. So you are wrong there.

That's fine. Removing Shanny from the drafting process will offset whatever small amount (if anything at all) we lost with the Goodmans.
