Default Michael Lombardi's Mock Draft

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...di-mock-draft/

12. Denver Broncos: B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College — The Broncos have to rebuild their defense and specifically their defensive line. Getting Raji is a huge bonus.

18. Denver Broncos: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU — Two defensive linemen make sense for the rebuilding Denver defense.

And unless I missed it, no Rey Rey in the 1st round

The funny thing is, neither of those two picks will be an impact this year.

I'd rather take the impact player for twelve years but takes awhile to get going than the guy that flashes in his first year and then settles out. LaVar Arrington...I mean Rey Maualuga.

Oh yes...I went there.

i am fine with the Jackson pick, but at 18 i would much rather get Matthews because he will come in and have immediate impact.

i think Jackson will be able to start at DE this season and won't get notice or praise, but will be fine, and Matthews will be a possible DROY candidate at the end of the season.

Really? I think they are both instant starters on our defense.

Depends how you define impact. It is true that neither one will get double digit sacks or get any pro bowl consideration, it is actually quite likely that neither one will start 16 games. However I beileve that drafting these 2 guys would improve our defensive front and the impact would be noticible, especially in the run game. Tyson Jackson is an excellent run defender.

You are still drafting potential. I love Raji, and I hope we do get him at 12, but he is going to get handled his first year or two in the league. LaVar was a athletic freak that lack love for the game and had injury problems, he was also a OLB. The first DE off the board did so much better....Courtney Brown. The first MLB off the board sucked......Brian Urlacher, he is a liability in the passing game.

Maybe. I am just saying that D Lineman have a very high bust rate.

Well said. I'm thinking in 3 years Rey Rey will be 290 pounds and selling cell phones in a mall.

They are still better than WRs and QBs.

I love the Barwin pick - in the second round. The guy is awesome and has oodles of potential, but he will be an inexperienced convert. A very good selection in the second round. A gamble at 18.

I love Barwin and would love to see him available at our 48 pick. I honestly think he has the size/athleticism/smarts to play all four LB positions.

How the hell not?

Tyson Jackson is a better 5-tech right now than anyone on our roster. He'd be an every down starter from day one.

BJ Raji would immediately take close to 50% of the snaps in the 3-4 front's NT position, splitting time with Ron Fields, and when we go to a 4-3 front (in the hybrid that we will probably be running) he'd take over 75% of the snaps as he can be a rare NT who can penetrate.

Jackson could step in and start for a lot of 3-4 defenses in this league, even good ones. The fact that Raji would start isn't something to be proud of, but its pretty safe to bet he could take a good number of snaps away from Ron Fields and whomever else we might consider for the NT job.

I seen a mock where they had SD picking Rey Rey, don't know if there's any truth to that.

no, because Barwin is not worth the number 18 pick. he has a ****load of potential, but for a 1st rounder, he needs to be ready to have impact on day 1. Barwin is really raw and will need a season or 2 before he is of any use.

i can live with the English pick, but want Matthews. i see that guy and just think of a new version of Romanowski.
