Default PFW releases their 2009 prospect rankings.

Quote:
The value board below is based on considerable feedback from NFL teams and projects the league value of players, pinpointing a specific area where players likely will be drafted. It is important to note that these values do not reflect where PFW thinks the players should be drafted or what type of pros they will become; that is better reflected in PFW's grades.
I posted this here because It's getting slow and they only do one of these a year right before the draft.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW...alue041409.htm

They got Royal right as one of the first receivers off the board and most people (including several here) felt he was a third round special teams player at best.

Things I've noticed
  • Pat White and Massaquoi's stock is climbing.
  • This projects Maclin as the first WR off the board ahead of Crabtree.
  • Harvin's stock has taken a hit as rumors about his character have gotten out.
  • Britton's stock's dropped, which has surprised me because I haven't heard why.

eddie royal is the absolute perfect reason that people should not go all doom and gloom after the draft. wait to see if a player is good before crying about it.

They haven't got a ****ing clue, especially on defense.

Barwin rated as a 3rd rounder, same with Gilbert, both will be gone by the mid 2nd.

Sean Smith rated in the mid 3rd

Chris Baker as a 6th rd prospect, what a load of ****.

He'll be drafted no later than the 3rd rd.

Ayers listed as a LB, like WTF

Frantz Joseph not even listed.

They must've dropped all their decent staff cos this is their worst effort ever.

Print this off and wipe your ass on it cos it's all it's good for. Even ****ing WalterFootball are putting more effort in.

Well they're not all right, but you'd be surprised. There were a few guys I was high on and then after this came out and had them lower than everyone expected I thought they were crazy. Then the draft came and they were right more often than not.

I noticed they agree with me and a lot of other people I have heard say that Mack is going to be a great pro center. Look how high they have him. I'm starting to think he wouldn't look to bad at 18.

I know I know we need defense but great players is what you really need. If we draft good next 2 yrs we will be a talented team. Mack IMO is a sure thing.

Here's last years' if anyone wants to see how off they are. Overvalued the QB's and undervalued Forte and others.

Character issues could really drop Baker. Baker might have 2 or 3 round tallent but his questionable character drops him.

Maybe they hired the Goodmans and Sundquist to evaluate the defense for them

Man, I could not resist that

Seriously though, Barwin and Gilbert are more likely third rounders than second right now due to multiple factors. Baker is more talented than a 6th rounder but has such serious Character issues he will drop at least to the fifth if not lower. Some teams have removed him from their boards altogether.

Sean Smith's tape is not as impressive as his bowl game and he is dropping as teams think he has Lenny Walls tall CB syndrome.

Frantz Joseph and Ayers I disagree with, but they are not that far out there.

The one I personally am trying to get around is OSU's third CB Donald Washington in the second round. Washington is from here in INDY and that evaluation seems more than a little suspect to me. What I do know is that Nolan Nawrocki knows his stuff and has better contacts than anyone not named Rick Gosslin

This seems ludicrous, but if these projections hold? Total Draftgasm

12 - BJ Raji
18 - Everette Brown
48 - Jarron Gilbert
3A - Sean Smith
3B - Connor Barwin

That hybrid defense? How does this look?

3-4:
DE: Gilbert, Clemons, Crowder
NT: Raji, Fields, Clemons?
DE: Thomas, Peterson, Crowder

WOLB: Brown, Dumervil/Moss
ILB: Williams, Woodyard
ILB: Larsen, Davis
SOLB: Barwin, Bailey

CB: Bailey, Bell
FS: Smith, Hill
SS: Dawkins, Barrett
CB: Goodman, JMFW

Given the "hybrid" nomenclature, your 4-3 front 7:
WDE: Brown, Moss/Dumervil
DT: Thomas, Peterson
DT: Raji, Fields
SDE: Gilbert, Crowder

WILL: Williams, Woodyard
MIKE: Larsen, Woodyard?
SAM: Barwin, Bailey

And for the Nickel?
DE: Moss/Dumervil
DT: Thomas
DT: Gilbert
DE: Brown

LB: Williams/Woodyard
LB: Barwin

Can you say playoffs?

A better thing to watch is their trends. Their actual round rankings vary more or less by a round, but the trends tend to hold true in the actual draft.

How much of Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal's success was Jay Cutler?

We'll find out soon.

I wasn't down on him btw, I think most were figuring out who was better between he and Desean Jackson. I think the jury is still out on that one as they both had very impressive rookie seasons.

Interesting picks, I hope they look as solid on draft day. However...

Andra Davis will be a starter on gameday. He might get replaced through injury, or as the year goes on, but I think you will be happily surprised with him, and the locker room already follows his leadership.

Brown would be a great pickup, but he is still a rookie. I think he will have to work pretty hard to beat out Elvis.

We don't really know what's going to happen, but the early murmur was the coaches brought in Darrell Reid to compete at SOLB (at 288lbs). Don't be too surprised if this happens. I'm a huge Barwin fan, and would love it if we got him, but he is a project. And, i'm still not convinced that Boss will be back to 100% - ever. Microfracture surgery is a weird deal, and he might never be "right" again. If so, we can reach an "injury settlement" and let him walk - which would probably be the best thing for the team.

On to Safety. Sean Smith would be a great pick, but I wouldn't look for him to displace Hill until later in the season.

Remember, the coaches want disciplined, experienced players. We invested in some older players to get exactly that, so don't be surprised if several of our rookies sit the first part of the year (or play ST).

So, their top RB in this draft is Moreno? No surprise there. Wells couldn't catch a pass if you spotted him a shopping cart. Brian Orakpo is a LB? Okay. Wow, Everett Brown is 1c and dropping? What did he do, kick a puppy?

Everett Brown is a situational pass rusher. It is hard for teams to draft a guy too high that only does one thing.

Mark my words, Pat White is going to make a helluva weapon for some team. He doesnt really fit into one perfect position for him , but he can be utilized on offense for key plays running and or passing.

Things interesting:

Massaquoi almost to the first.Percy Harvin might fall out of the first along with Ebon Britton. Painter is an UFA along with Arian Foster.

Maybin and Tyson Jackson could go in the top five. This has English in the second round. Kruger drops to day 2. Macho going in the second (where is Med to tell me that he isn't worth a third or fourth?) Ashlee Palmer in the fifth.
