Default McDaniels' challenge: connect with the players

Quote:
So anyway, I'm listening to Jim Rome on the radio and he's saying something about the Broncos players being ticked off at Jay Cutler.

My man Romey has a great feel for today's sports world, but he's wrong on this one. Yes, the Broncos' players are disappointed that Cutler is gone. No, they don't believe they have as good a chance to win now that he's gone.

But mad at him? No.

If anything, they envy him. And if they knew they could without it getting back to the Broncos, they would high five him on the 16th Street Mall.

Why? Because NFL players seldom if ever have leverage against the front office. That's why, while they never would admit it, the players were on Cutler's side in his spat with Josh McDaniels. And they're happy for him now that he pulled off the power play and landed with the Bears, his boyhood team.

So now McDaniels has a roster full of players who have to be wondering about his competence. Who, having seen how he treated Cutler, must be suspicious about how he'll treat them.

In the end, that has to be McDaniels' first order of business. He has to establish a relationship with his players in the aftermath of severing one with his quarterback.

Success in the NFL, where parity rules, isn't all about assembling talent far from it. It's about motivating players.

i think its funny that people seem to forget how quickly that the only reason jay cutler is gone is NOT because of mcdaniels, its because he locked himself in his room and wouldnt talk to anyone until he got traded. its been stated multiple times. jay cutler tells everyone "i think both sides would have done things differently" however mcdaniels says "i wish we could have been able to communicate with him at all"

mcdaniels stated multiple teams before, during and after trade talks that cutler was his QB, but cutler refused to listen. if he would have dropped his untradeable ego one time he would still be here and still be the starting QB

You must think people here are very stupid. This story would have never escaped this board. It would have generated at least a 10 page thread - at the very minimum.

Take your make believe stories elsewhere newb. You've been busted.

Yeah, I'm sure the guy who joined the board just days ago with an agenda to bash Cutler and promote Plummer has a link to the story of the year - one that would have generated pages upon pages of discussion here that we all just happened to miss because nobody here was watching ESPN or reading any newspapers that day. We must have all been out for a picnic or something.

plummer is over and out. so is cutler, for that matter. time to face forward, face the future, and jump on it like a starving man on a christmas ham.

Oh ok. So Cutler stabbed the kicker and told him "if we don't win it's your fault" and then picked a fight with him in the locker room again later? I've heard some of the locker room stories, but I've never heard that before. Did he punch some old ladies on his way to taking his equipment off? I don't think even the most classless player in the world would try and stab a player, then re-pick the fight in the locker room. I would love to know why this is the first we've heard of this.

You're just butt-hurt because Plummer got himself benched for playing like crap and Cutler replaced him so you hate Cutler now.

Some random message board post doesn't have any validity. If that was the case I am sure some sports writer would of been all over it and it wouldn't of made it past the mane.

It also
  1. wasn't "all over ESPN"
  2. Didn't have a sound clip of Champ saying he's never seen a QB do that before.
  3. Didn't show Cutler "shiving" anyone. (by the way, do you even know what that word means?)
  4. And didn't say ANYTHING about a fight in the locker room.
