Adopt-a-Bronco:
VP John Elway
Default OT: Avs Fire GM Francois Giguere

Glad to see Stan continues to demand accountability from the Avs, hopefully he'll begin doing so with his basketball team if the Nugz can't make it out of the 1st round - again...

Avalanche mortaged their future last year with trades for veteran players. Those moves have backfired, and it will be a few years before they are back in the thick of things.

By the way, I heard from an inside guy that the Av's are looking to get back Pierre Lacroix. I don't know if that's discussed much in the sports world, but it's looking like a possibility.

Well he's currently in charge until they find a replacement I believe. The Avs have just never figured out how to make it work once the salary cap was put into place.

Lacrock is currently the team president and hired Francois Giguere as his replacement.

hopefully Stan Kronke fires him too. Lacrock hasn't done **** since he traded away Drury in 2002

They're so lucky they made the playoffs last year. The trade for Foote was the Avs' '08 1st if they made the playoffs or the '09 1st if they missed. I'm sure Columbus would love to have the 3rd pick before the lottery right now.

Avs are also out an early 4th round pick because of the fact Foote resigned.

the next GM(and not Lacroix returning to the post)needs to understand the value of the draft and signing international guys. the foul ups in the draft by the Avs since 1999 have been comical. regardless of if you pick #1,#3 or #4 it has to be a HR. Shattenkirk & Stewart were nice starts but the entire farm needs a overhaul.

'trose: I totally agree that the playoffs are everything, and I know you're a huge critic of Karl's. But I assume you're referring to Karl when you speak about accountability as you have been very critical of him in the past.

Do you really think he hasn't been a good coach this year?

I can understand why he has deserved criticism in the past in dealing with players, his favorites, and what not. But this year?

Maybe this is a subject for the NBA thread, but personally I think he has handled the players masterfully this year; including Carmelo, and ESPECIALLY the suspension they handed him.

Give Karl and the front office credit where credit is due.

Thats why I believe Lacroix needs to go as well. We need wholesale change on this team. Time to let go of the past & move forward
