Default The "Greatest Offense of All Time" Mock Draft

Screw it -- even if we spend all of our draft picks on defense, we still won't be able to field a top-16 D. However, with the pieces we already have in place on offense + an offensive whiz calling the plays + this draft, we'll create the greatest offense of all time, and win Superbowls in 2011, 2012, and 2013 after they gel as a unit.

Here's the rules:

1) All picks must be on offense

2) We get a few lucky breaks as far as players sliding to us.

1 - 12. QB Mark Sanchez, USC -- can't have the greatest offense of all time with Kyle friggin' Orton running the show. If he's not here, then we pull the trigger on Josh Freeman instead -- we need to buy a QB lottery ticket here, no matter what.

1 - 18. RB Chris "Beanie" Wells, Ohio State -- same rationale as above, except replacing Correll friggin' Buckhalter, Lamont friggin' Jordan, and J.J. friggin' Arrington

2 - 48. WR Percy Harvin, Florida -- DeSean Jackson fell to the middle of the 2nd last year due to character concerns. Harvin has even more character issues, and will be here when the Broncos select -- mark it down and remember who told you first!

3 - 79. OG Duke Robinson, Oklahoma -- not a traditional Broncos guard, but will play in goal-line offense, and improve our short yardage game immeasurably.

3 - 84. OG Herman Johnson, LSU -- for exactly the same reason that I selected Robinson.

4 - 114. C Antoine Caldwell, Alabama -- this is a great draft for centers, with 5-6 excellent players on the board. One will drop to our 4th round pick, and I think it will be Caldwell. A big, strong, powerful player who will, in combination with Wells, Robinson, Johnson, give us the best goal line offense in the NFL.

5 - 140. WR Austin Collie, BYU -- if the OM Mock draft is any indication, he'll be here, which will make our 6th receiver (Marshall, Royal, Gafney, Stokley, Harvin, then Collie) better than most teams' 3rd receiver.

6 - 185. OT Alex Boone, Ohio State-- One more massive brute for my goal-line offense. This guy is 6'7, 330 pounds, and a long-time starter at Ohio State.

7 - 225. FB Jorvorskie Lane, Texas A&M -- Lane is 5' 11", 295 pounds , and scored 50 touchdowns in his college career at a major college.

7 - 235. RB Bernard Scott, Abilene Christian -- Harlan Hill trophy winner as best player in D2. Had back-to-back 2000 yard seasons to close out his career. At this point, I'm just taking a flyer on a player who may make the roster, because our offense is now officially stocked!

Here's what our offense will now look like in 2009:

Base offense
QB: Mark Sanchez
RB: Chris Wells
FB/H-Back: Payton Hillis
WR: Brandon Marshall
WR: Eddie Royal
TE: Tony Scheffler
LT: Ryan Clady
LG: Ben Hamilton (on his last legs, but we get 1-2 more years out of him)
C: Casey Weigmann (ditto, but only 1 more year before Caldwell replaces him)
RG: Chris Kuper
RT: Ryan Harris

Goal-Line offense
QB: Mark Sanchez
RB: Chris Wells
FB: Jorvorskie Lane
TE: Daniel Graham
TE: Ryan Harris (tackle eligible)
WR: Brandon Marshall
LT: Ryan Clady
LG: Duke Robinson
C: Antoine Caldwell
RG: Herman Johnson
RT: Alex Boone

5-Wide Set
QB: Mark Sanchez
WR: Brandon Marshall
WR: Eddie Royal
WR: Percy Harvin
WR: Brandon Stokley
WR: Jabar Gaffney
LT: Ryan Clady
LG: Ben Hamilton
C: Casey Weigmann
RG: Chris Kuper
RT: Ryan Harris

We'll go all defense in 2010 and 2011, and become the greatest dynasty of all time shortly thereafter.
