Cool video, some good tackles in there, lets see what he can do at LB.

I just hope he can make the transition to 3-4 OLB. Mike Vrabel was a DE in college, as well as Bruschi but he's a inside guy, both are over 6'-0" also...

Just hope is works out for both the team and player.

I honestly think Dumervil at 3-4 LB is a perfect fit. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but he runs like a LB, he's got 3-4 OLB size and he's obviously an explosive player. It also means he wouldn't have to line up against a tackle on every play.

This will be one of the more exciting things to watch in the pre-season. Can the staff find a way to make use of Elvis' arsenal of skills instead of just lining him up as an undersized DE like the prior admin.

James Harrison is listed as 6' 242

Doom is listed as 5'11 260

Like you said, Doom carries the weight very well. Doom is the kind of weapon which makes a 3-4 so appealing. Just getting him out of a 4 pt stance will probably help a lot.

I don't see how Doom is ideal for the 3-4 at all. He's 5'11 and has never covered anyone. Height on the line doesn't matter a whole lot if you can get to the QB anyway (which, at his point, I'm not sure he can). Height in space and in coverage is a lot more important.

There's no guarantee he can cover, though he's athletic enough and seems instinctive enough that you'd think it's a possibility. He's a couple inches short, but plays bigger than he his, and clearly has moves to get to the passer. He can also chase down ball-carriers in space. He's a solid tackler and would handle blockers as well as any LB, having moved over from DE.

There are no guarantees, but just looking at his size and play... I'd think him to be a better fit at 3-4 LB than DE in the NFL.

It doesn't matter how tall you are, it's all about wingpsan and reach. Doom at 6' probably has longer arms then most guys who are 6'4. I honestly think he will explode in a 3-4. Obviously he's not the greatest in pass coverage but that OLB in a 3-4 only has to be decent. You would rather he has better skills at rushing the passer then coverage.

Height is less important at LB than DE.

Al Wilson, Zach Thomas are both only 5'10"-5'11"

This may be the heart of the matter right there.

I would hope they actually have him lose about 10 lbs so he can pick up speed. His moves will still be there since he is a leverage player (not really a power player).

If i'm Tuten, I would be having Elvis backpedal all day long and twice on Sundays. He needs quick feet (laterally and in reverse) to succeed at WOLB. I think he has the motor and the skills to be incredibly disruptive.

Drop weight, pick up speed, agility training. He could do it. Elvis also has the special motivation of being able to significantly cash out after this year. If he learns how to be an outstanding OLB, he could garner a HUGE contract after this next season. Go Elvis!
