NFLN actually has Wood over Mack. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80f93042
This is a good year for centers. We've had in Wood and Caldwell. Eric Wood: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80f92f66 Alex Mack: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80f93042 To me, it looks like Wood is a little more mobile and balanced and Mack is a little stronger and better at run blocking, although it depends on what aspect of run blocking. If you pull up some of Cal's highlights on youtube, they have a ton of long runs going at Mack where he just totally clears a massive path to daylight. My preference at this point is Mack. Who does everyone like as a centre prospect? |

Anyways, I'm a Mack fan too, everything I read about him just makes him sound mean, and real big on the intangibles. I caught an Oregon game on tv this year and thought Unger looked excellent though, but I have to admit, I haven't done much reading up on O linemen this year, been more concerned with defensive prospects. I guess there's a very real possibility we take one fairly high though, I should brush up. |

Mack is hands down the best center in this draft. He should probably go in the 1st round.
Now if this was an Unger v. Wood, you'd have something there. Wood was underrated during the collegiate season while Unger got a good bit of hype, but Wood seems to show better power and I like him better overall as a center. Unger is a guy I'd be happy with taking late in the second or early in the 3rd and finding a home for him at any of the three interior spots, but I wouldn't want to bet on him sticking at center like I would for Mack and to a slightly lesser degree Wood. |

Do we take Mack at 18? or look for another C later on the first day?
