Default Point combinations related to moving up...

OK, I was thinking about McDaniels press conference when he addressed having the flexibility to move up on the board if theres a player they like. So I took our picks' point values and was looking at different combinations related to moving up.

Our #48 = 420 pts
Our #79 = 195 pts
Our #84 = 170 pts

Here are a few combinations if we wanted to trade up and where we could trade up to according to the point value chart:

#48+#79+#84= 785 pts....this would land us at the 22nd pick. We would then have the #12, #18, and #22 picks in the first 3 rounds

#48+#79= 615 pts...this would land us at the 31st pick. This would give us the #12, #18, #31, and #84 picks in the first 3 rounds.

#48+#84= 590 pts...this is worth the 32nd pick. We would then have the #12, #18, #32, and #79 picks

#84+#79= 365 pts...this would get us the 54th pick according to the PV chart. This would leave us with the #12, #18, #48, and #54 picks.

i think moving down is the most likely scenario to happen in the draft.

I'd take #12, #18, and #22, that'd be a ridiculous haul.

we need impact players.

If we had 3 picks in the first I would be stoked!

but is money an issue for 3 first rounders?

we had near 50 million in cap space to start the offseason, and McDaniels maybe used 20 of that, so we could pay 3-1st rounders if we wanted to

Keep in mind, Denver may not have to propose trades. If Wells or Sanchez is there at 12, I think there will be a lot of calls to Dove Valley.......

Why? This is a weak draft year. I'd hate to see them give up so much to move up for a guy who probably wouldn't be a 1st round pick most years.

I forgot who reported it (Schefter, Klis, etc.), was saying that Denver was turning down deals initially that included higher 1st round picks than #18 because they didn't the value came close to matching the increase in contract price this year.

I think #12 and #18 are good spots this year. Pick an instant starter (offense or defense) with 12, you could even reach on a need with 18.

But, if our guys aren't there at 12, I would rather see us trade down and get a low first rounder and second rounder.

We need lots of players on defense. Using thirds to move back into the second might also be a good idea. But, I don't mind where we stand right now. Don't push anything. Let a deal happen if it is good enough (just like Cutler).

Don't move up in the first. We have too many needs.

I agree that we need impact players. Im also not sold on this regimes eye for talent where 3rd round and below picks are concerned. This year, Id almost rather move up into the 1st or 2nd and get 3 or 4 good players between 12 and 48 or 12 and 22. It boils down to using a rifle or taking the buckshot approach and keeping #s. BTW, we have plenty of picks.

I'm fine with moving up. If the talent pool isn't deep enough why pick a guy in the third or fourth when we can move up and take somebody better? It's not all about quantity even though we have a ton of holes.
