Many times, people are pushed into defensive postures by exaggerated allegations. It's a classic manuver which leaves you defending issues and things you never said or believed.
McCarthy was adept at this.(post-war chronicle) Rather than being a loyal American, you had to PROVE it. Win the battle, lose the war with that. I see alot of this here this morning. I listened to McDaniels disect the offense in his interview. 16th in scoring, 28th in field position, red zone ect. But noticeably absent was any mention of the defense. Anyway, it's clear where his head is, and that is a base 3WR/1 back set, often with the RB split out. Frankly, that is the exact play Hillis was injured on. I think that what he didn't like in Jay was exactly why he would of traded a youing Brett Favre. You want control freak? This guy is going to be worse than Shanny. Maybe Shanny got too comfortable, who knows, but we were AWFULLY close to winning the division last year, 4 weeks prior. Back to the point of the thread. There has been alot of hubris floated around and such on all sides. It's still just a game, the real one is in Washington. Nevertheless, I see alot of blowing up that doesn't need to be blown up. I said long ago, that NE's passing attack was too nintendo, and I thought once we got in another real RB, we might of become almost as dominant as the 00 Rams. It is what it is. You can't give up 30 every week and win, period. Want to know why Jay was petulant? Because he knew he had to score every time down the field, often with horrible field position and no running game. |

I agree with the gist there.
Interesting fact Quote:
Mcdaniels spends a lot of time talking about the kicking game, and while I agree that something has to be done, I don't think it is as important as fixing out bottom-feeding defense, which he rarely talks about. |
