Default Coach says relationship is salvageable

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4010299

Now that the coach came out and said as best as he could.. will baby cutler get out of his diapers and come practice ?

Lets see how long cutler wants to drag this.

"He's our quarterback. We can't predict the future. He's our quarterback, we want him to be our quarterback, we made that very clear to him and we hope he feels the same way," McDaniels told the NFL Network on Monday, a day before he speaks publicly about the feud for the first time.

McDaniels reiterated that trade talks never reached owner Pat Bowlen's desk, a sign that the issue never got to the serious stage.

"Conversations were had and we've never denied that, but at the same time it's our job to look at every opportunity that we can to see if it's something that could improve our football team, and that's what we were doing," McDaniels said.

"I know it's been a very public issue and this is something that I think happens more than people realize. We have a relationship, nobody knows where it stands right now, but it's going to get better," McDaniels said. "It will continue to get better, I believe that. I think it's something that both parties have to work toward a solid resolution. We have a good nucleus of players there that are looking forward to seeing him back at the facility and working with him. It will get to that point at some point in the near future."

Of their strained relationship, McDaniels said: "I absolutely feel that it is not irreparable."

Finally what the coach should have said from the beginning....but that is water under the bridge.

Josh has done his part...now Cutler needs to do his.

I hope jay does come back and clear the air. If he pulls a monkey wrench again and cry a little more.. than i smell more trouble than success in the years ahead

He HAS been saying this since the beginning. In fact, I thought this was an old quote when I read it. Absolutely nothing different than what he's been saying.

Where's Jay, though?

Popps, you really don't see anything different with these quotes compared to what was coming out of their conf call or face to face meeting?

I think we should trade McD to the Chiefs for Cassell. Then we could dangle Cassell to the Chiefs for draft picks!

It is curious that McD and Bowlen are confused as to how Jay took their conversations the wrong way.

I really hope Cutler wises up and realises he has nothing whatsoever to gain by ignoring McDaniels approaches and gets his ass back in the Broncos QB driving seat.

Bowlen is not going to give him a new contract under these circumstances and Denver are not going to trade him for the pittance other teams are prepared to give.

Cook is royally ****ing up his career with his stance here and the sooner Jay realises that the better.

Cutler just told CBS 4 that he thinks the relationship is repairable as well. He is attending camp in April, so assuming another meltdown doesn't happen, the repairs should start then.

I read that he's planning to report, but I didn't see that he said he thought the relationship was irreparable.

The "he's our quarterback" rhetoric started about a month late, but better late than never.

I'm still not convinced that the relationship isn't going to be a distraction, but what the hell...

No, when you watch the interview in its totality, you can see why Cutler doesnt like this guy. When asked if he's the QB of the future, McDaniels says, "we cant predict the future." He could have easily given himself an out by saying, "Jay has a lot of talent, if he continues to work hard and improve, then its hard to imagine not wanting him here." But, no. He acts like this year is a one and done if that.

Part of the interview is up

Irreperable?? Uber said that Cutler said that is was repairable. I hope he's right.

Uber can you confirm that Cutler said he thinks it can be fixed?

He's been saying...

1. It's his job to consider all options to improve the team. (That's why he said they "didn't deny conversations took place)

and...

2. He wants to speak with Jay one on one.

He's been saying that **** for a couple of weeks. I see nothing different. I expect that's the same thing he says tonight in the interview.

I agree that there were more affirming words he could have chosen, but I don't see a "one and done" message in there.

He didn't:

Cutler also let me know that he saw parts of Josh McDaniels' interview with the NFL Network on Monday. In that interview, McDaniels stated several times that Cutler is his quarterback and he hopes to keep the lines of communication open to resolve their differences. When asked if he thought the situation was reparable, McDaniels said yes.

Cutler had no comment on McDaniels' interview.

Well....in order for Jay to take that statement the wrong way, he must know people who can, in fact, predict the future.

Doubtful.

Well if he thinks its reparable then he should extend an olive branch and not wait until April. Come now tell Bus Cook to STFU and snug it out with McD.

You're right, there isn't.

McDaniels is wisely choosing his words very carefully, trying not inflame an already volatile situation.
