i hate the idea of the trading of Cutler, but on just a sheer value looking at it like an NFL exec would, that trade would definitely need to be considered. i mean we would be taking a few large steps back on the QB side, but if Cassel could look borderline pro bowler in 1 year under McDaniels, Quinn would be able to also, plus we get much needed help on the DL and picks that we could use to solidify the rest of the D.

if we are going to go into next season with Boss and Woodyard as our guys on the outside, it is going to be bad. i love Woodyard, but in a 3-4 i think his best chance of being a contributor is on the inside, and Boss won't last more than a couple games before injury

on a side note, has anyone heard anything about if Boss will be capable of coming back from microfracture surgery?

The was article that Boss is already working out and should be cleared for full contact by camp.

In this scenario, Doom would man the other OLB spot. One of those spots is basically like a standing DE anyway and isnt asked to do much in coverage, if at all.

Again, if you want an effective 3-4 defense, you need OLB's that are pass rush types. Cushing is more a blitzing type OLB who would work well with a 4-3 defense. If he's at OLB in a 3-4 and guys like Bailey and Woodyard(nonpass rush types as well), then the Broncos better have/find a DL who can get pressure on the QB and not your typical 3-4 DL whose job is to mainly occupy blockers and stout against the run.

As another poster already pointed out, that is a hellava lot for the Jets to give up.
