I would take detroits 1st this year. next years 1 and 3 we dont have the cap room for three first rounders. let alone the 1 over all

#2, #5, and a new one.

I would send Cutler to the Lions for their #1 and #33 this year and their first next year. I would not spend the #1 this year on a QB... not unless they really like Freeman, Sanchez or Stafford and they are available at #12. What I would focus on is Chrissy Simms this year. See if he has the talent to run this offense. IF he does, great. If not, you have two first round picks next year (both of which will likely be in the top 15 assuming Simms flops in this scenario). With those two first round picks you can put yourself into a position to get a McCoy or Bradford to be the future. If Simms works out and shows long term potential you have made your team significantly better with a Herchel Walkeresque trade using Cutler... A long shot for sure, but potential to work out in the long run. I like the idea enough to consider the Lions #20 and #33 picks and their first next year. That would give them Cutler AND the #1 overall to significantly upgrade their talent pool and give us some nice selections this year and next year.

In your trade scenario to the Browns, can you throw in a Edwards for Marshall swap as well. Not that Edwards is better, but at least he's not in the papers all the time.

I would trade for Mcnabb anyhow we could. He has a good 5 years left and he brings some much needed leadership and confidence to the table.

3 is the only one I would consider, and I still think that is not enough. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 25 YR OLD PRO BOWL QB!!!!! You don't give them away.

That is insane. Why not throw in Ryan Clady while you are at it. Jay, by himself is worth at least 2 or 3 first round pick +. Detroit got a 1st and a 3rd for Roy Williams. Atlanta got 2 2nd's for Matt Schaub. You do not give away players, especially Pro Bowl QB's. The 1st pick in the draft is a burden, not a reward. The money that we would have to pay the first pick is stupid.

Jay Cutler IMO should garner a king's ransom in terms of value, but even i have to admit some of those options are way too expensive for Cutler...

there is no way Detroit will give us both of their 1st rounders AND another 1st day pick...only on fantasy island...

and there is no way Cleveland would give us Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers, AND their #5 pick...only on fantasy continent!...

here's one i'd do but others will hate...

trade Cutler to San Fran for their 1st, 3rd and Alex Smith...

SF was considering releasing Smith anyway so i consider him a throw in...

he's a bust so far, but i'd be interested to see what he would do behind a stellar offensive line, with great targets and a offensive guru QB coach in McD...

So you WOULD listen to offers for Cutler? Isn't that wrong? J/k. I would have thought some of the options would have been high too but, allegedly, the deal offered would have netted us Cassell and two high picks so who knows?

It'd have to be a combination of picks; perhaps a player. Cutler is at least worth two first-rounders alone. If you don't have that sort of value -- you can't even get to the table, IMHO.

Exactly. Draft picks and College players are a crap shoot. You are trading a proven player, with additional upside for unproven players, who might or might not pan out. We got Champ Bailey and a 2nd for Clinton Portis. So I think if you consider a trade, it better make the team better.

He was a former what 12th overall pick or something like that...His record while in the NFL is well below .500, has been pegged as a guy that isn't the best locker room leader and is having a huge tiff with his head coach and organization.

So would somebody explain to me what he has down to significantly increase his value over the 12th pick in the draft that was spent on him. The reality is that so far he has damaged his value, not increased it.

anybody can play the "glass half empty" card...

it doesn't matter where he was picked, only what he brings...

and right now he's a 25 yr old Pro-Bowl QB with ALL the physical tools...

you can spin it however you wish but those attributes will garner king's ransom on the market...

If what we've been reading over the past 2 weeks is true, all you have to do is look at what was supposedly on the table for him already. Every potential trade scenario I've heard so far involved some combo of players and/or 1st round picks.....so apparently the market disagrees with you.

Like you, I like to think I have a history around here of calling people out for over-valuing Bronco players because they're homers. I don't think that is the case so much with Cutler. Sure, some scenarios being posted are a little crazy; but asking for more than just the equivalent of the #12 pick in this year's draft, however they get there, is not outlandish IMO.
