Default Post Spiders Return Mock Draft

1st
Brian Cushing, USC OLB/ILB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 243.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Combine 40 Time: 4.79.
Benchx225: 30. Vertical: 35.
Projected Round (2009): Top 25 Pick.
1/10/09: Voted to the AP All-America Second Team.
Cushing can play either outside or inside, which makes him an incredible value at #12. Hes a non stop motor player and a locker room leader. Immediate starter at SAM. I think his ability to play both spots makes him a worthy pick at #12, plus DEN needs to keep the LB position fresh. Andra Davis, whom i like, doesnt have too many years left, and i dont even know if DJ is playing inside! Larsen and Cushing would make a brutal pairing in a few years, if thats how it worked out.

2nd
Connor Barwin, Cincinnati OLB/JACK
Height: 6-4. Weight: 256.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Combine 40 Time: 4.66.
Benchx225: 21. Vertical: 41.5.
Projected Round (2009): 2.
So the LB positions are complete, and DEN has a true motor at JACK. Connor Barwin finished strong, compiling 15 TFL, 11 sacks, seven passes broken up and three blocked kicks in 14 games. Um, can you say MOTOR!?!?!?

3rd
Sammie Lee Hill, Stillman NT
Height: 6-4. Weight: 329.
Projected 40 Time: 5.23.
Combine 40 Time: 5.11.
Benchx225: 27. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 3-4.
2/24/09: Sammie Lee Hill ran very well for his frame. Considering how rare quality nose tackles are, he definitely increased his stock.

Cant wait any longer to get this guy. DEN needs another solid NT, and Hill fits perfectly.

4th
Mitch King, Iowa DE
Height: 6-2. Weight: 280.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Combine 40 Time: 4.89.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 4.
1/9/09: Mitch King's 15.5 TFL were pretty impressive. He had 54 tackles and two sacks on the year.
Its players like King that make a team consistent on defense and well.......we all know how INconsistent DEN is!! Much needed depth and a guy who will always be pushing his competition.

5A
Davon Drew, East Carolina TE
Height: 6-4. Weight: 256.
Projected 40 Time: 4.74.
Combine 40 Time: 4.78.
Benchx225: 17. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 5.
1/5/09: A very good blocker who finally emerged as a reliable weapon in the passing game. Davon Drew finished the campaign with 43 catches, 695 yards and three touchdowns.
(This pick is totally based on the fact that myself as well as others suspect a draft day trade involving Sheffler, for a high pick.2nd or 3rd) So Sheffler doesnt fit into the plans of the FO, huh?!? OK, so DEN goes out and gets themselves a solid blocker who can also catch.

5B
Kyle Moore, USC DE
Height: 6-5. Weight: 272.
Projected 40 Time: 4.83.
Combine 40 Time: 4.89.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 5-6.
1/9/09: Managed 9.5 TFL and five sacks as a senior.

I know, i know, another USC player. So sue me, the guy makes plays.

6
Brandon Underwood, Cincinnati FS
Height: 6-1. Weight: 198.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Combine 40 Time: 4.54.
Benchx225: . Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 6.
12/14/08: Part of a talented secondary and the All-Big East First Team, Brandon Underwood compiled 60 tackles, six passes broken up, 3.5 TFL, three interceptions and a pick-six.

A little light, but could be a solid player with some tutoring.

7A
Michael Bennett, Texas A&M DE
Height: 6-4. Weight: 274.
Projected 40 Time: 4.81.
Combine 40 Time: 5.02.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.86.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 36.5.
Projected Round (2009): 7-FA.
1/9/09: Let's hope the Lions don't confuse him with Michael Turner.

7B
Jervonte Jackson, Florida Atlantic NT
Height: 6-3. Weight: 300.
Projected 40 Time: 5.03.
Combine 40 Time: 5.07.
Benchx225: 21. Vertical: 23.5.
Projected Round (2009): FA.
11/23/08: Jervonte Jackson finally missed a game this year. In nine contests, he has 35 tackles, 2.5 TFL and two sacks.

5/9/08: Solid defenders have been known to come out of the Sun Belt (particularly Troy State). Jervonte Jackson had three sacks in 2007, one coming against South Carolna.

2007: Jervonte Jackson hasn't missed a game in two years. He had 46 tackles in 2006, including one sack against South Carolina.

So flame away!!!

This is the guy I want us to get the most... I just believe he is a FOOTBALL player..

If he lasts to this spot, please take him, though I think we would have to trade up into the 32-40 range to have any chance of getting him... He may even be a first round choice, like Matt Jones, on potential, so I will probably not see my hopes fullfilled.

I could live with this kind of defensive minded draft

Cushing is a safe pick that will be a constant starter for the next 10 years. I have no problem with Cushing at all at 12.

I really like King in the 4th, he kind of has a Crowder feel to him, but will fit this system better.

I like the draft, but is kyle moore really expected to last until the 5th? Has his stock fallen that far? Earlier, I was reading him being a potential late 1st-mid 2nd pick....

Cushing has had a lot of injuries. This is a concern.
