Denver cornerback to visit Baltimore
March 5, 2009 8:15 AM Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson Interest in Denver free agent cornerback Karl Paymah is heating up. He is visiting Baltimore on Thursday and he is getting calls elsewhere, a source close to the situation said. Denver is not trying to retain Paymah. If he ends up in Baltimore, Paymah would likely be the nickel cornerback and he would reunite with fellow cornerback Domonique Foxworth, who signed with Baltimore on Friday. Both Paymah and Foxworth were drafted by Denver in the third round in 2005. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0...Baltimore.html |

Interesting.
It's possible that Fox put in a good word for him? Though I'm not sure why anyone would have something good to say about Paymah. If he did though, that's a direct contradiction of Wolf's inside sources that had Fox leaving town due to friction between him and the other corners (Not a sarcastic statement at Wolf's expense) |

That would be the end for that draft class, right? All three CBs gone, Myers to Houston, and Ernster was a Steeler last I checked.

Yes, that would be the end of that draft class. And I don't know if Foxy put in a good word. He isn't a terrible corner, but not a great one either. He should be just fine as a nickle or dime.

Why is this in the Draft forum? This has nothing to do with the draft. Did I put this here and not realize it?

Now if all defensive players go to Balt and play better... does that increase the chances of a comp pick or is it only based on the contract?

I am going to laugh my ass off when Foxworth plays really well in BAL. Same thing if Paymah goes there. Both were drafted because they were press man CB's and then the Slowick got to DEN and tortured their asses with no pass rush.
Players work best in places where their skills are used as an asset and they can bring them to bear. Foxworth was very solid playing for ATL last year and should be better in BAL. Same thing with Paymah. One man's trash is anothers treasure scheme wise. |

Agreed. I think both players are very solid and it will show. Hopefully Paymah gets signed and we get a compensatory pick next year. |
