OWINGS MILLS - The Ravens have reached an agreement in principle with linebacker Ray Lewis, a league source said.
This ensures that Lewis will finish his career with the Ravens. Retaining Lewis was important for the Ravens because they lost defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and inside linebacker Bart Scott to the New York Jets. Lewis earned his 10th Pro Bowl this season after leading the NFL's second-ranked defense with 160 tackles. He also had 3 1/2 sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries |

The thing about Lewis that kinda gets me is that he's already been paid a huge contract (I think). That is, many players know that if they play well enough in their first few years, that their second contract is the big money contract where they get the bulk of their money.
Ray is on the tail end of his playing years and although he's still an excellent LBer and the leader of the team, he really is kidding himself if he thinks he's in his big money prime. But, the NFL is a business and I guess he did what he had to do... |

Our defense could have used him, but I'm glad we didn't sign the scumbag.

That's a relief. I might have rooted for him if he was wearing the O&B, but I would have had to shower afterwards.
Anyway, I put Ratbirds right up there with Faders and Cheffies. |
