SIMMS TO VISIT BRONCOS

Tennessee Titans unrestricted free agent quarterbck Chris Simms is scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, according to Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper.

Per the article, Simms is also under consideration by the Detroit Lions.

Simms could still wind up being retained by the Titans, but there is an apparent market for his services around the league.

If he stays in Tennessee, Simms would probaly be slated to compete with Vince Young for the primary backup role behind starter Kerry Collins.

Another smart potential move.

Again, you see a theme with all of these players. Good team guys, guys with reps as hard workers, leaders, etc. Not sure who else is out there as far as back-ups, but this would be a massive upgrade over what we've had behind Jay.

Well, Ramsey led the Broncos to a total of negative 7 points in his Broncos career ... so if Simms never takes a snap he's already a TD ahead of what we had.

I think he would be a good addition, and upgrade over Hackney. Interesting, considering his close relationship to the Shannahan family.

decent bkup spot starter when healthy IMO. Not much really available on the bkup QB market. Maybe Garcia at some point, or some other vets that get a surprise pink slip after draft.

Broncos should be smart and start drafting qbs late in the draft and grooming there own bkup qbs. Keep 2 qbs on roster one on practice squad and then maybe we can trade them a couple yrs down the road like NE just did.

If you can get a qb to just play well for 6-7 games seems they become very valuable.

Seriously, though, we should sign Simms. He'd be ten times the backup Ramsey ever was. I wouldn't have to give up hope of winning a game if Jay got hurt.

Ugh, just got flashes of 2007's Detroit game.

This would be a great pick up for us. Seeing as though i live in texas i have been following him for a while. He is also a great team player and is twelve times better than anything we have (besides Cutler of course)

This would be another good low risk pick up. Sims is the prototypical clipboard holder backup. He's smart enough to learn the offense quickly and throw to the checkdowns when necessary, and has a decent enough arm to make all of the intermediate throws. He's not going to kill you vertically down the field, but could be an excellent game manager.

I'd be all for it. The only other one out there is Jeff Garcia, and I think he is as much of a hothead and whiner as Jay. Simms still needs to prove himself and would work very hard.

Hopefully Jay has been told about this! I mean I would hate for him to think he's being replaced...he might stay home.

That only worked out because their star QB was out for the season. I very much doubt that Cassel would have garnered ANY attention if he perhaps only filled in for say 4 or 5 games. I hope and pray we don't lose Cutler for a whole season so having 3 QB's is a waste to me.
