What are you listening to nowadays? I have one:

1) The Gaslight Anthem: couple of guys from NJ. They play straight up rock reminiscent of The Boss. They killed on Letterman the other night:

The Platters, Steely Dan? Maybe a little Bob seger? The classics work best. And just for spider, a bit of George Jones.

This will be U2's year, again....and there is nothing anyone can do about it. They bloody have the best producer, writer, guitar player alive.

Amen. Pepper Keenan is the man. Everyone who digs this kind of music should get COC's latest album 'In the Arms of God' immediately.

Ha, it's like 3 years old now; but it's pretty damn heavy. They are still touring and are still together from what I hear. I know Reed Mullins had to quit the band because of his back, but they are still intact. You HAVE to check it out.

Animal Collective- Merriweather Post Pavilion (I liked AC before this album. Now I have an unhealthy love/obsession. So good.)

Anything by Aaron Lewis of Staind ... Be it the full band , or just him on a stage solo doing covers ... Anyone that can make me sit through Piano Man is a god.

But i really like Staind , and Lewis can cover anything solo . He would be great at parties ...

This version of him doing Pearl Jam Black is just stellar ...

embedding was disabled by user on this ... But here is him doing Piano Man
and it just kills me ... and man he kills the chorus ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzQkABoQ_G4

One more cause this one is just unreal and hiqual ...
Staind - Everything Changes

Really love how dude writes , and we kinda sound alike i get told ....
My guitarist says i only like bands if i like the singer and it's in my wheel house/range ... and this is my total fav at the moment ...
