Vitter anti-Acorn amendmend shot down.
So I switched over to Cspan-2 just for the hell of it to see if I could
get an idea where the stimulus package stands.
The Senate is still in session at 11:30 on a Friday night. How many
of you all are at work at this time of night.
At that time they were voting on an amendment introduced by
Senator Vitter (R) of Louisiana. He wanted to deny stimulus money
to Acorn. And opposition Senator (forgot who) pointed out that
after Katrina, Acorn rehabilitated over 300 homes in New Orleans
and this is the thanks they get. So they spent about 10 minutes
voting and the end result was 45 yes, 51 no. Seem to be split
almost along party lines, McCain and Kyl were some for it,
Udall and Udall were against it.
Anyway, later on Senator Reid got up to speak and it looks
like tomorrow they will just be doing more debating, 2 hours
for the ones who are for it, 2 hours for the ones less for it
(Reid's words, in other words 2 hours for the Democrats,
2 hours for the Republicans.
Nothing on Sunday.
So it looks like the vote won't be until Monday at the earliest
from what I was able to gather.
