Its true all you can ask for is to get all your chips in the pot with the better hand but its not like he nothing himself. There is no doubt you took it in the arse.

Nice check raise by the way.

Well looks like I'm not gonna play for awhile. I take losing too badly and have to constantly bet over my roll to keep excited. Gambling isn't really for my personality. It's fun buuuut no

You got exactly the kind of action you wanted to.. three way all in on the flop with your top trips. Hell the guy with the AA could have got running clubs and beat you..sometimes it just doesnt work out

I've gotten beaten on the river where there was literally just one "out" available to the other guy and he got it, so you won't be getting any sympathy from me.

The problem with your hand was that the guy with dueces couldnt see that he was beat preflop. You raised in early position and the small blind reraised. Unless the small blind is loose and is trying to get the bb out, I fold that hand. Why would I want to be 2nd to act on an original raiser and then a reraiser? Most likely you and SB have over cards so the only hope for the BB to score is to hit a set (three of a kind). Chances are 9% on the flop. You are mad at him hitting the quads but what about the SB with his aces? He had you both and you both got lucky. Yes it was a bad beat AFTER the flop but it was a bad beat on the flop for Small Blind with aces. Consider that the big fish got eaten by the medium fish and then the small fish came and ate you. It is poker and happens all the time. More hands you play, the more crap this happens. Here is a scenario just from Monday that happened to the 3rd table left in a $540 Limit holdem tournament at Commerce Casino (LAPC for those in the know). We are down to 20 with 18 getting paid. Since I am one of the short stacks, I get up to see the amazing talk at the table behind me. Guy is all in with K9 against AcAd. Flop comes 234 of all diamonds meaning that K9 needs non running diamond Kings, running 9s or K9 that isnt a diamond since AA has one diamond. Turn card is a 5 of diamonds giving AA a str8 flush (2nd best hand in poker behind royal flush). River or 5th street is the 6th of diamonds giving them both a str8 flush and wiping out the ace of diamonds for the win and getting us to 19 players. So a few plays later I am in the Big Blind of 1500 and we get a limper then a raise. I look down at 98 hearts with 9000 behind me and 2 away from guaranteed $738. I decide to put in the 1500 for the raise and if I hit, I stay in and if i dont, I am out on a bet. Flop comes Ks99! I check as does other two. On 7 spades I bet to see if someone stays in. Both call so now i figure I am good but a little worried so I check with the ace hits the river. First guy (limper) bets and original raiser raises to 6000. I have 5500 left but how can i fold trips. So I go all in and other guy just calls (he has ace). Original raiser held KK ! I was drawing to one outer of the case 9. If the guy with nothing but an ace gets out on my bet on the turn, the KK guy might just call me and I would still have a few chips to limp to the money. But guess what? KK was best hand to start and of course finish so I can only be mad at the Poker Gods for putting two 9s on that flop. At least i did very well last week at the same tournament. For that, see the Mane's Poker threads. Next week, $1k HORSE tournament against some expected pros. Amateur versus the Negrenaus, Ivey and such.

Is that part of the LAPC?
By the next time you come out here, you'll actually be able to play some decent stakes up in the hills!

Yes, part of the LAPC. After my 2nd place finish, I was ranked 210th in the world! Yes, I am currently better than many of those pros you see on tv. Of course, every day my ranking drops with bigger tourneys going on here and around the world but it is nice to win big in January so you can print out your rankings and think what a cool, b****in guy you must be. Of course it got to my head or i would never enter a 1k Horse event against these pros. Glad to see the Mountain people in Colorado voted to raise the stakes. Long time coming and should help business that has falted big time since opening up 10 years ago or so. Try making it out for the WSOP circuit event in San Diego this time. Few months away so stay at your sister and get out here.

i did a mini raise to sweeten the pot a bit as i always do with a low pocket pair. im not folding pocket 9s to the minimum raise available, no one in there right mind would. i was the original raiser, someone mini raised it on top and i called to see the flop. guy with aces didnt make any respectable bet to make anyone fold. i hit the top set, guy with aces stays committed after i check-big raise both of them big time to try and take it down right there, i get reraised all in so of course i call knowing i have the best hand on teh board. there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way i played this hand, i got my money in as a huge favorite to win.

I've been afraid to play online since it was proved people were cheating. Govt needs to legalize it so we can put the servers in the USA not Costa Rica etc.

I love holdem but I'm not a good player so I stick to the small tables. My friend on the other hand really good and its about all he does. He makes 30-40 grand a yr playing poker.

yea i just play for fun, i cant play too long because i get overly mad, i tilt super easy and then blow all my money. it takes so much to be on the line for me to have fun, way over what my bankroll can afford, that i just try to avoid playing.

its not that im bad, sometimes i get overly aggressive and lose a big one because of it.

I'd say those components are what make you a bad player. The good ones can sit literally for hours and make nothing, waiting to pounce.

Last time in Vegas I was with my friend, who plays semi-pro, hitting up black jack tables. I would check in on him from time to time and he would just sit in the Mirage poker room biding his time, waiting. Cash games are a lot different then a tourney and he is a master cash game player. He doesnt play tournies at all.
