Default well, the Colorado legislature finally did something right.

When this bill becomes law, I'll be one reporting sum bltch. My grandma is in trouble though.

Slow driver bill speeds up

Rep. Mike Merrifield's effort to penalize slow drivers who cause back-ups is now on its way to the Senate.

House members approved HB 1042 by a 37-27 vote, largely along party lines. Only four members switched sides, with Democratic Reps. Ed Casso of Thornton and Wes McKinley of Walsh voting against it and GOP Reps. Marsha Looper of Calhan and Spencer Swalm of Centennial voting in favor of it.

The measure requires drivers travelling under the speed limit who back up at least five cars behind them to pull over at the first safe moment. Those who do not face $56 in penalties and three points assessed to their license.

After two days of sometimes sardonic debate on the bill last week, it passed on its final reading without any discussion.

I hate the idea of this being a point ticket! Gladly I imagine it being rather difficult to enforce.

stupid law that will be hard to enforce. Also you could just go to court and say there were no places you felt safe to stop. Or you could say you saw rocks in the road etc.

I wish politicians would stick to things that really matter.

I had a trooper pull me over on 36 a few months ago because some dillwad passed me in on the right. I was going 60 in a 55 zone, but he still decided to pull me over. No ticket just some weird explanation that I should have been in the right lane.
****ing a-hole.

I don't know about here, but in Virginia you could get a reckless driving ticket for that.

this is a stupid thing to worry about.

What does this mean for me? My truck is governed to 65mph, so what if I'm passing a JB Hunt driver doing 62mph?™

I bet few of these a-holes have never driven 70 through the mountains in the dark with poorly mark roads. I am sorry, but I not driving full boar thought that and I'd bet my house no judge would convict me.
