Broncos keep ticket prices steady

In an offseason filled with historical change for the Broncos, the team will keep at least one thing status quo.

Their ticket prices.

With a weak economy around the nation and the team coming off its third consecutive playoff miss, Broncos tickets will cost season-ticket holders as well as single-game buyers the same as last year. The team expects to mail out its renewal notices in the coming weeks.

"They are going to stay the same,'' said Broncos chief operating officer Joe Ellis confirmed Monday.

Ellis said some club seat premiums those seat-holders pay a fee and then buy tickets as well may be raised for those seats where contracts run out this year, but ticket prices will remain the same as 2008.

After an 8-8 finish that included losing a three-game lead in the AFC West with three games to play, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen fired Mike Shanahan and the bulk of Shanahan's coaching staff.

It was the third consecutive year the team had missed the playoffs and the Broncos have had one playoff win since winning the Super Bowl to close out the 1998 season.

Josh McDaniels was hired to replace Shanahan earlier this month.

Since that Super Bowl win the Broncos have raised ticket prices seven times. After the 2007 season they raised prices 3 percent to 10 percent, depending on the location of the seats.

Last season, the Broncos, according to figures they and other teams have compiled, were above the league's average ticket price in the lower bowl of Invesco Field at Mile High, about on the average in the middle level and below the league's average in the stadium's upper level.

I didn't think they would raise the prices this year.

they should LOWER them after the team's performance over the past 3 years.

No kidding, with the crappy product they have been selling, they should discount ticket prices.
