Kipers mock actually makes sense....wtf...
would love to see chokeland invest in more skill position players, even though i like maclin he won't solve their problems. kc gets a developmental qb who needs time to mature and san diego gets lt's replacement. |

My Top Three:
1: B.J. Raji 2: Rey Maualuga 3: LeSean McCoy....I know that seems high for McCoy....but he is my favorite back in the draft and would be a perfect compliment to Hillis. I do realize we need help on the defensive side of the ball. Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 01-21-2009 at 09:37 PM.. |

I'm not buying the Beans. Not impressed with Rey (should have came out last year). Still working on the rest.

I'm not going to draft a guy just so my rival doesn't get him...that isn't the way to the 'ship. Build a solid front seven that will shut any RB down and Beanie won't be a problem.

Raji Brown Moreno with caveat that if there isn't a defensive player worth taking at 12... TRADE DOWN... Last edited by RocBronc; 01-22-2009 at 08:19 AM.. |

(He is flying up draft boards with his senior bowl showing, I suspect he will mimic Sedrick Ellis from last year) 2. Malcolm Jenkins (I know CB isn't our biggest need, but it will be soon. With this guy on the roster we will be a lot better against the pass) 3. Rey Maualuga (He had an excellent showing at the senior bowl yesterday, his pass rushing skills are the best of any ILB and he gave some demonstrations of his run stuffing ability) |

1. Raji- He can play in both the 4-3 and 3-4 defense.
2. Everette Brown- May be the best pass rusher in the first round 3. Maualuga- Boom or bust pick, but he has the size and attitude to succeed at MLB. |

1. Jenkins - Too good of talent to pass up at 12 with our aging secondary and he would even be one hell of a FS right away
2. Everett - Hopefully he'd be a 3-4 terror 3. Raji - our NT |

I could see DEN taking Jenkins. I would rather a 3rd round FS play there though simply because they know the position so well. Everett sure. Bj. Thats where i have him right now. Just not so sure about him yet. |

Can we not use the "he's so great at CB our pass defense will get better even without a good set of linemen" argument for a CB? If the last four or five years have shown anything is that the argument just doesn't hold water.
I don't ever want to see the Broncos draft a first round CB ever again. Unless the NFL changes the rules for CB and WR contact to help the defense out it's just not worth it anymore. |

As long as people know they can run on every 1st and 2nd down because they can convert 3rd and long all day against a coverage unit softer than the journalism on Fox news. |

Except we have Champ Bailey and Dre Bly as our starters and not Josh Bell. Should we trade or cut them then we can take a CB in the second or third. But never the first.

After much cogitating and reading the bones and tarot cards, I think I would prefer Rey Maualuga first, and a NT-type at 2 and a FS at three. I am not convinced that the Broncos will be in a 3-4 next year, but if they transition into it, they would have an NT with some experience in year 2. A franchise MLB is as valuable as an LT. Wilson was so dominant, he made the D work better than it was. Maybe Rey can do that for Denver.
If Rey is not there, I'd then want Brown and then the NT and then the FS or RB in the third..... But with Goodman drafting, I don't know whom they would target and I don't know if there would be any trades. My guess is that if there were a trade, it would be initiated by some other team. Just a hunch based on the fact that Goodman drafts so well. I am, however, mindful of the trade that got Cutler and the one for Moss and then Thomas.... One out of three ain't bad. |

Besides that, in the 1st round you ALWAYS have to draft for value and if Malcolm Jenkins is available he would be extremely good value. |

If you always draft for value in the first then there will always be a more valuable player. CB is just not a position of major importance like it used to be. Our over investment in it has gotten us jack.
