Default Obamanation: Why evoke Lincoln?

What is the purpose, or significance to evoking Lincoln?

What is it, the train, the bible, and the Lincoln memorial over the past few days...

Then back on May 23rd, Hillary invoked assassination and rode it out the rest of the year...

Obama identifies himself in many ways as modern day Lincoln.

Lincoln did one of the most terrible things in this nations history. I wouldn't
throw my lot in with a guy like that.

In short, be a criminal:

During the Civil War, Lincoln appropriated powers no previous President had wielded: he used his war powers to proclaim a blockade, suspended the writ of habeas corpus, spent money without congressional authorization, and imprisoned 18,000 suspected Confederate sympathizers without trial.

Further more he only freed slaves in the southern states. He did not free them in the north or what was called the Union. He freed the slaves not because of the belief that we hold now, but because he and his "cabal" felt in would give them a military advantage.

If that's the case, why aren't you making excuse for his actions? You know, the congress did it, the house did it, etc.......

When Lincoln suspended habeas corpus he did so WITHOUT congressional approval. Which is the body sanuctioned by the Constitution to suspend habeas corpus.

Except the country really was in danger in 1861. There wasn't a manufactured
war used as an excuse to grab power as in the case of Dick Cheney and his
puppet George W Bush.

The Civil War was manufactured in the sense that humans made decisions to bring about it's birth. And it was very much about a power grab.

I could agree with that. But it all goes back to the tariff act of 1828 which was an economic power grab by northern states.

I wonder what might have happened if Lee would've listened to his advisors at Gettysburg. He sure made a helluva mistake there.
