Commercial and Financial real estate will be the next sector to collapse.

That is 30,000 mostly young, non college educated, pants pulled down showing their underwear folks about to be unemployed. WalMart must be thrilled.

I feel sorry for all the people in Richmond Virginia that just lost their jobs. Good luck and God bless.

Richmond, Virginia is where the company is based and you'd go in the stores here and get the worst service. I would like to say I am suprised by this, but I am not. They also owned their own finance bank and CarMax

Wow. This is big.

I know there are a lot of haters out there, but I loved Circuit City and they were always my "go to" place for tvs. They always treated me right and allowed me to barter with them for better prices on big ticket items. Nobody else of that kind (I'm looking at you, Best Buy) would ever consider that. And, unlike Best Buy, they never tried the old bait and switch with me.

Bad for me. Good for my bank account.

Too bad they're not politically connected or they'd get preferential treatment like other companies/sectors have. They won't be missed.

If you are serious about the 50inch plasma, this is the way to go IMO:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...y+Viewed+Items

Originally $2K, already on sale for $1500. I'm sure it's only a matter of weeks (once the Bankruptcy Court approves the liquidation plan) before it's under $1200 with floor models going for $1K or more likely even less.

Online stores are much better for electronics nowadays IMO

For some electronics, but not for TVs. At least not the models (Panny and Samsung plasmas) I was looking at. When I was comparing prices online to what CC had, I was always able to get the same price or lower price through CC.....and I was able to see it with my own eyes and walk out with it same day. That's worth something as well (namely, no shipping and no tax).

Now for blurays and speakers, I've found amazon and such to be better. But not for TVs.

I like using Beach Camera which is based in Cali I think.

Besides it sounds like you have to haggle for the price at CC, not having to do that is worth something as well. I suspect the bottom lines are pretty close for both.

A lot of them are through the actual tv makers, e.g. you buy a 5 year warrenty and don't go to Circuit City ever again but call Toshiba and they send people out etc.

They are not issued through CC. They are through Citi. I asked them this very question in November when I was going through my tv purchase.

Great for people that live in the three states they sell to.

That's the exact one I'm getting. I've been watching the price go down on Amazon. Maybe I'll go over to the local CC and see what they have.

It's a beautiful set. Amazon seems to be the lowest advertised price for it right now. CC generally has a bunch of that model in stock (around here at least), but if you can wait another week or two (or at least until this Sunday's ads come out), I'm sure you'll have a shot at doing even better than the current Amazon price.

Any opinion on which is the best, and most compatible, home theater sound system to go with that?

Obviously budget is huge with these things, but for my money, this system is far and away the best for the price right now for a number of reasons (and for a number of reasons, you won't have to worry about it being obsolete for a long time).

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S6100...2136961&sr=8-1

If you pair this with that tv and this blu ray player

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMP-...2137023&sr=1-1

you'll be the envy of all but those with serious high end systems:

Ignore the prices you see right now. Both go on sale every few weeks which knock over $100 off the onkyo system and $100 off the blu ray. Not to mention, CC carries both and will most certainly be knocking down their prices as well.
