Default Terrell Suggs anyone?

What are your thoughts on bringing in Suggs as a FA? I think he could bring an element that we haven't had for a long time with speed, nastiness, and versatility.

I believe he can't be franchised again this year due to incentives in his current franchise contract. I'm sure it will take a 5 year, $50-60M deal, but that is still cheaper than Peppers or Haynesworth.

I haven't watched him play that much as a Raven, but he was a MONSTER at ASU. A damn MONSTER.

If we move to the 3-4, absolutely. If we stay in a 4-3, I'm not sure how much I'd want to invest in T-Sizzle.

I don't like his off field demeanor, and don't know how he would be in the locker room, but I'm a big fan of his work on the field. I bet Spags could find a role for him in the 4-3.

Looking at Elvis, Jarvis, Crowder, Ekuban, and Engleberger - he could instantly come in and be our best D-end.

I know he is a 3-4 LB, but he would instantly be our best D-end if we brought him here. Then, you have him stand up at the end of the line for the hybrid 4-3 thing. He cann blitz like a mofo and actually cover pretty well in the first 10 yards.

He would be a huge asset, but we need coaches before players.

Prior to the coaching switch, I'd ask why would he or any other defensive player want to come here?

Now, I guess anything is possible.

So you want to spend 50 million on a guy you would have to find a roll for?

I would love to get Suggs and build a defence around Ravens Superbowl teams defence. The Ravens had two 2 big defensive tackles and two pass rushing defensive ends The Broncos draft B.j Raji with first pick then Trade for Onunleye from the Bears. The Broncos starting defensive line of Suggs,Raji,Thomas and Onunleye.

Wow, this has to be the most empty discussion here. This all assumes that Baltimore lets him get away, not really super likely.

You sound like Costanza trying to get Bonds and Griffey in the same outfield

Baltimore has Ray Ray, Suggs and Scott all as FA so it's conceivable they could lose one. With that, all indications are that Pat Bowlen is going away from the model of spending big rather than more towards it.

Bart Scott is as good as gone, they want to keep Ray and Suggs. (I am basing this on the fact that there have been no rumors of negotiations with Scott, but we do know they are talking to Ray and they franchised Suggs last year, so they don't seem to like the prospect of losing him)

We can more than likely get a few guys in here, I don't know that Suggs will be one of them. Vilma is a better bet.

this is really one more discussion that isn't going to gain a lot of momentum until we see which direction this team is going to go. The new coach not only might be bringing in different systems, but he needs to do an assessment of the current roster. A guy like Spags may see a lot of promise in our young guys. Remember Justin Tuck was on the trading block in NY at one point, and Spags came along and now he's an all pro.

Yes, and that is a scary reality. The story that came out today that the FO will "encourage" the retention of 6 or 7 current members of the coaching staff is very suggestive of belt tightening. This defense will not be able to get where it needs to any time soon via the draft alone. We need a couple of D FA's, and I'd love for them to look at Derrick Ward to pair with Hillis.

Are we close enough on D to hit big name FA's. I realize it could vastly improve our D but, we need 7 starters on D.

Exactly. If we bring in a 3-4 DC Suggs becomes, imo, the top priority FA.

I think we need at least one big name FA, and a couple of good vets. Brian Dawkins would be perfect if Spags is our guy. May have lost a step, but brings an immediate leader and a familiarity with Spags and his system.

Haha, sorry, that was kind of tongue in cheek. Stupid internet. I was just meaning that even though he's considered more of a 3-4 guy, I bet spags could get double digit sacks out of him in a 4-3.

The offense got there through the draft alone why not the defense?

Silly baja. What does he need a roll for? I think you're confusing him with Moss, who is desperately trying to bulk up.
