Okay, I realize Favre is not anyone's favorite person, given his constant will I won't I retire stance over the last few years. The real reason I thought this video was funny was the part when Jamie Dukes goes on about the fragility of QB egos and the NFL's focus on QBs and coddling them. It's only a small portion of the video, but I thought it was funny, particularly given the talk about Jay in various threads.
Of course if it also kickstarts additional discussion on things like Brett leaving the Jets or should players talk smack about each other to the press that's okay too. I realize many of these ideas have been batted around prior, but hey it isn't like we don't have multiple threads on the same thing all over this board. I thought this one could consolidate it and genericize it to not just the Broncos, but all QBs, etc. Here's the video: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80dd0272 And mods if you feel this is more OT or something feel free to move it. |

I saw it earlier. I do think conflict within the team should be kept within the team but the gist I got from Jones is that Favre is not a team player and thinks it's all about him. No huge surprise there.

Funny, when I think of fragile ego's I usually don't think of qb's. I am not sure there is a higher pressure, higher criticized position in sports and I think that qb's in general are as mentally tough as anyone. WR's would probably win my fragile ego award far and away, and RB's would be on that list too. That said, Favre does seem to have some issues and I admit I enjoy the situation.

What an awkward situation. Even if the shoulder checks out ok and Farve wants to return, how could he play again on the same team with Jones and Coles (who threw Farve under the bus a few weeks back)?

I dont. I like seeing him getting kicked around by the national media for doing a lot of the same stuff he was doing in Green Bay. Its amazing how when he did that stuff in Green Bay, it was cute and charming but now that he is doing it in NY, the media's tune changes.

A lot of people in the media forget that if you forget about last year is that his 2 yrs prior in GB he was bad there too, even throwing 29 picks in 2005.
Kerry Rhodes and Jerricho Cotchery have said on the radio here in NY that they would want Favre back but only if he takes part in offseason workouts. The Jets are giving him to the combine to make a decision. |

Yeah, Farve was coming off a couple of really bad years and then sold his soul for one more good year in GB. Unfortunately he has no more souls to sell.

I want him to come back so we can see if he can throw another 6 INTs in a playoff game.

Favre should just call it quits right now, pull his wranglers and straw cap on, head back to Mississippi and do some shrimping with his buddy Forest.

Unfortunately, no strong coach exists to tell TJ to shut up. If i'm Favre, I'd come back just to make TJ's life hell next year. Favre had 3 weeks to get acclimated to the playbook and had a coach that had no clue how to use him. If he stays, he'll be better next year, IMO.

Brett Favre is a ego maniac that will be limping the rest of his life in his wrangler jeans because he has convinced himself he is still pro-bowl material! In my eyes he tarnished his legacy with this whole ordeal. He should be like Dennis Quaid in Any Given Sunday and give up

Point taken. It still remains to be seen if Favre has only glimmers left or if he can sustain a 16 game season at a high level. He's only one year removed from a very good year in Green Bay. He had much better WR's and a better RB and coach there. This was a transition year. Next year will be the tell-tale sign, IMO. |
